| Golem_Lord01-02-06, 06:54 PM | Like in the Jermlaine the have 1d3-4 for there darts, and 1d3-4 for there Spears. So how do they do any damage? |
| sandskimmer01-02-06, 06:58 PM | Minimum damage is always 1. Read the back of the MM for details. |
| Golem_Lord01-02-06, 07:10 PM | So then why the -4 insted of -3? Wouldent that just be easyer? or why not just 1? |
| dok01-02-06, 07:15 PM | Because the negative numbers come from somewhere. A jermaline's -4 to damage comes from it's 3 Strength. If it got a spell that boosted its Strength to 7, the penalty would drop to -2. Likewise, the damage numbers come from somewhere. A Tiny creature's spear deals 1d3 damage, but if a spell or effect increased the creature's size to Small or Medium, the damage would increase to 1d4 or 1d6. By listing the full set of information (1d3-4), when other effects come into play (like magic, Weapon Specalization, Power Attack, etc.) things can be adjusted according to the rules. |
