| scott64412-12-03, 07:58 PM | I just figured we'd have fun with a thread for some of the more insane cross-concepts involving dragons. I'll start... My cross-concept involves the Book of Exalted Deeds. Basically, a true dragon that started out early with the Vow of Poverty feat. Unlikely? Absolutely. Impossible? No. There's a true dragon prestige class where the dragon effectively sacrifices their hoarde already (The Dragon Ascendent), and provides great power. The vow of poverty provides great power as well, but at earlier levels. The possibilities boggle the mind. Any other crazy concepts? |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast12-13-03, 06:18 AM | I created a gold dragon ascetic (VoP) for an online game a while back. Unfortunately it never started so I never got to play him :( ah well. |
| scott64412-15-03, 05:39 PM | Never started - that bites. And a gold dragon ascetic? That's about scary. Then again, a dragon with a vow of poervty is kinda scary too. ;) |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast12-17-03, 02:15 PM | I decided to post him, just to give some life to the thread :D Anyway, its in PC format rather than monster format. VoP is for a 17th level character, since that is the starting gold we were given. So basically, it isnt a cross-concept anymore....its a reality! | scott64412-18-03, 09:06 AM | Nice stats! Where'd you come up with the level standard for the vow of poverty? |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast12-18-03, 09:18 AM | It was set by the DM. Since mature dragons dont have listed ECL, and it would be far into epic if they did, the wealth of all players was set to 17th level. I dont know why 17th exactly though... |
| Waterless12-18-03, 12:43 PM | Actually, it's funny you mention that... In my friends' recent campaign, I have a quarter-gold dragon Paladin (The rest of him is elf), mostly because the GM thought that half-dragons were too powerful, but also because he thought it would be funnier. Anyway... He decided to give me Detect Gems as one of my innate abilities, and coupled with Detect Evil, it makes for very interesting dialogue. GM: "You come upon the ogre's meager treasure horde..." Me: "I use detect gems and detect evil." GM: "Make your roll....okay, you detect both." Me: "Hark! Methinks mine snout hath detected an evil amethyst about!" GM: "....I hate you." But also, because, again, he thought it was funny, he's made it a requirement that my character keep a horde of treasure, going against pretty much all of the Paladin's tenents (in our campaign), and making my character a humorously hypocritical character... Me: "For justice!" Sorcerer: "And for gems, too, right?" Me: "....Yes, and for gems, too....*mumblemumble*..." :D Don't make me mention the quarter-fiend monk with a height complex that partiest with me...man, the arguments we have... |
| scott64412-18-03, 03:54 PM | 17th is cool. That's pretty close to max. And that thing about the evil amethysts and hoarding paladins! rofl! |
