| Acarg5112-31-05, 12:20 AM | Well, this is one of those things that I would classify as a "stupid question", and something I thought I used to know how to handle, but it's been a while... How do i handle the CR of a humanoid with class levels? For instance, a goblin? The base goblin in the book is a level one warrior, and his CR is 1/3... so, if I make a level two goblin expert, what would his CR be? How do I adjust for different races? how is one a CR 1/2, and another a CR 1/3... and what happens if I give them class levels? I hope that's clear enough... how do I figure out the CR? |

For example, the goblin entry states that the CR for a goblin with NPC class levels is its character level minus two. The only tricky part is when you have a low level NPC. In these cases, you'll end up with a CR of less than one. However, there is a straightforward equivalence between these adjusted CRs and actual CRs: 0 = CR 1/2 -1 = CR 1/3 -2 = CR 1/4 and so on So, a level 1 goblin warrior is CR 1/3, a level 2 is CR 1/2, and a level 3 is CR 1. NPCs with PC class levels have CR equal to their level, no matter what. A level 1 goblin fighter is a CR 1, for example. |
