Omadon 03-20-05, 10:09 PM	I had the pleasure of encountering an Ancient black dragon the other night that used power attack with it's crush attack. It increased the normal 2d8+1.5xSTR bonus to 2d8+1.5xSTR bonus+2x15(PA). Was this legal? Since there is no attack roll with the crush attack there is no penalty to power attacking. The dragon could have power attacked me for it's full BAB w/o penalty (and probably would have killed me in one shot).
Tsuul 03-20-05, 11:10 PM	I don't think the Crush(ex) ability is considered a melee attack. No melee attack = no Power Attack.

However, if the more general "no melee attack = no power attack" is true, then that means you can't power attack on a coup de grace, since it automatically hits and never requires an attack roll. Is that how others have ruled it? I've always allowed power attack on a CdG. Sure, it means a lot of damage, but that's why they spend the feat. Davrick
