10-14-05, 11:04 AM Are the breath weapons of hydras Ex like ankheg spittle or Su like dragons breath? Stat block in SRD doesn't say. I would think they would be Su but I'm not sure.

I would make a bet that it is Su in nature like Dragon's breath. Ankheg acid breath is more like a physical ability like horny toads squirting blood from their eyes. Dragon breath is definitely more magical.

(... so polymorphing into a pyro-hydra isn't all that)

10-14-05, 08:34 PM A bit OT: when the pyrohydra breathes, do all the heads breathe at once necessarily? Do they all have to breathe in the same direction? Do they all get to breathe after the same time increment, or get it back at different rates?

I find the sudden interest in Hydras on these boards rather amusing. Although note that taking Assume Supernatural ability would allow you to use the breath weapon when polymorphed :D

10-14-05, 11:03 PM Right, silly me about the time thing. Direction, though? Seems if they were required to all breathe the same direction it would have been described differently. Then again, if they start acting that independently, making them all breathe at the same time seems silly. Ah well, I guess I'll assume total unison.
