a 7 headed Cyrohydra.. just making sure I am doing this right...

On a BREATH attack, does it get 7 SEPARATE attacks (ie - 7 char reflex rolls if it targets ONE person)? or it can direct 1 attack at each of 7 people ?
OR is it ONE reflex roll for any caught in the "common" breath for 7*(3d6) =21d6 (save for say 10d6)

Thanks.

okay, here is how it works by the book.

the hydra chooses an area (10 feet high, by 10 feet wide, by 20 feet long) that begins at the hydra. All creatures in that area take damage. Damage is 3d6 save for half per head, there for a 7 headed hydra would deal 3d6 save for half 7 times to each creature in the area. Cold immunity would negate all of the damage, cold resistance would count per head (for example a creature with cold resistance 10 would take 3d6-10 points of damage per head which could negate the damage from some of the heads entirly)

Wrong, energy resistance reduces damage taken per round, not per attack like damage reduction

I have no idea if he is right about the rest of this

Don't you ever get tired of claiming that somebody is wrong and then shoving your foot in your mouth?

Quoted from the SRD:

Resistance to Energy (Ex): A creature with this special quality ignores some damage of the indicated type each time it takes damage of that kind (commonly acid, cold, fire, or electricity). The entry indicates the amount and type of damage ignored.

3rd edition energy resistance is indeed per round.
They changed this in 3.5 and it significantly impacts many aspects of the game, it is more like a DR.

Personally I don't like 3.5 energy resistance because it cheapens many effects, particularly those intended to be spectacular like meteor swarm but that's another thread entirely.

I also allow multiple cones from the hydra, not all in just one direction.
