As part of an adventure I'm writing up, the PCs will have to explore a forest where everything is made of crystal, the trees, the ground, even the animals. Are there stats for non-humanoid crystaline monsters somewhere? I'm looking for various CRs up to about 6 (low CR monsters to use in packs and higher CR monsters to use as leaders and solitary threats).

IDK where they might be in books, but I would suggest trading dex for natural AC as a modification that seems appropriate, but that's just me... who hasn't been playing for even a year...

What? Trade dex for natural AC on what?

on their profiles... since they would be made of a hard substance it would limit their movement and yet grant them greater protection, to an extent in both, like 2 points of dex for +2 natural AC... they actually get a bit stronger that way...

Make them vulnerable to sonic damage.

Oh, I'm not looking to modify existing animals, I'm looking for monsters made from crystal. Constructs, outsiders, magical beasts, things that don't look like anything found on earth.

Actually, it might be fun to have packs of crystal badgers, or crystal weasels, attack the PCs. :D

I'd guess that most crystalline monsters would have ties to the Elemental Plane of Earth. The crysmal (which is psionic, BTW) is described in the Expanded Psionics Handbook and the psionics SRD too.

There's also a couple of crystalline plants (ironglass rose and crystal sunflower), again psionic, that were detailed in the May 2005 issue of the (late) Mind's Eye, so you can search the archives for those.

The stained glass golem isn't strictly speaking, crystalline (glass crystal is an oxymoron physically), but somewhat like it, and of course you can create a half-golem from that.

I wish WotC had updated the carbuncle from Fiend Folio 1e to 3.5e. It was a little armadillo-like critter with a gem on its forehead. Someone made an unofficial conversion here (http://enworld.org/cc/converted/pdf/magical_beast/carbuncle.pdf).

How about this for crystalline animals:

Change the type to Construct and modify hit dice, base attack, saves, and skills.
-2 Dexterity
+2 Natural Armour (or maybe 1-2 hardness instead?)
Resistance to Acid 5, cold 5, electricity 5, and fire 5
Vulnerability to Sonic

How would this modify CR, or would it?

Yeah, the XPH has a number of crystaline creatures and alot of info on crystals and the like in general

If you want some good sources of material look up 'Sentenced to Prism' by Alan Dean Foster. Its a world completely silicon based with every being on it crystaline. Rather disturbing in places.

I think my Cave Beast (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=218399) should fit your needs.
I've also got another one that's a reproducing crystalline elemental, I'll post it soon.

There's the Gulgar from MMIII and, of course, the Crystal Dragon from MMII. You could also pop up sentient psicrystals.
