I think I have an idea how this works, but can someone verify that I am correct.

Creating a custom golem is basically a creature with construct hit dice and adding immunity to magic on it?

There are a couple of existing exceptions (like the coral golem), but magic immunity is a feature of most golems, with a gap or two that varies in flavour for each. Most also have one special attack, like the clay golem's cursed wound, the stone golem's slow, or the coral golem's stun.

They are usually, but not always, humanoid in shape.
