anki 06-30-06, 02:51 AM	While i was looking at demons in the MM i noticed upon closer observation that the had like some kind of cyborg implants and metal tubing on them.Not all of them have those things,but i think its just wierd and silly?So my question is:why?? :confused:

Slagger the Chuul 06-30-06, 03:16 AM	I think the hezrou just looks a bit like it has cybernetic implants, but the glabrezu has a lump that seems more explicitly mechanical. Of course, since retrievers are constructs "created through foul sorcery", it's evident that the demons have more than a smidgen of mechanical aptitude.

I mean, an advanced boosted enhanced prosthetic arm with claw would deal +1+1d4 damage, and a leg of the same sort could grant +15 land speed!!! though, it may just be 1d4 and 10 feet, respectively; I think those are enhancement bonuses and don't stack. So, yah: Cybernetic demons! Woot! I can dig it.

Funny thing is, I noticed this originally with only one glance. This is influenced by my brother pointing out, when I first saw the nalfeshnee in the Monster Manual a couple of years ago, that demons should be punished by being shoved beneath a nalfeshnee's *ahem*, to be as polite as possible, "nipple flab". Now I look at one and my eyes dart to...that location. Thus, I hate nalfeshnees. :( :P

I don't know, a reading of thier Fiend Folio 1st edition write up gives me the impression that they are some-what golem like constructs created by Demogorgon in his labaratories in the abyss... perhaps the sources that presented them as "living" creatures were the "mistakes", and the 3e writers decided to "fix" it when they got the chance.
