Apologies if this has been discussed before, I've looked through the last few pages of threads but I couldn't see anything on this topic.

Amazon.com are advertising a product called the D&D Monster Gift Set. The product has the following description:

"This product collects three popular D&D® supplements–Fiend Folio™, Monster Manual II™, and Monster Manual III™–into one handsome package, complete with attractive yet durable slip case. This collection gives Dungeon Masters a horde of monsters to challenge players of the Dungeons & Dragons® game. The monsters contained herein are suitable for any D&D® campaign."

Amazon.com are saying they have this product in stock, and are selling it for $56.67. I cannot find any information about this product in WotC's product database.

Two questions:
(1) How is it that Amazon.com are selling a product that Wizards have no record of?
(2) More importantly, isn't it problematic that Monster Manual II and the Fiend Folio are 3.0 products? (Having said that, if this gift set includes copies that have been updated for 3.5, I'm definitely getting it!)

The Monster Gift Set was discussed at the Future Releases forum on this thread. We had our hopes high that the MM2 and FF would be updated to 3.5 stats, including psionics for the gem dragons, but now it seems less likely. We're waiting for feedback from a new buyer to see if that is the case.

The Monster Manual II and the Fiend Folio are not updated to 3.5.

And all the books are supposedly soft cover (perfect bound).

…Ugh!

:weep:

That's not all that great. I could understand them not updating perhaps, but making them softcover is just friggin' dumb.

And all the books are supposedly soft cover (perfect bound).I've seen them first-hand at one of my local Border's; they're not soft-cover. That being said, I can't address the 3.5 update question, as all 3 "copies" they had were shrink-wrapped...

...shrink wrap? since when has shrink wrap stopped anybody? If I intend to buy a book, but don't know if I realy want to buy it (depending on it's contents) I simply remove the shrink wrap and peruse, usually i end up buying the book (the same copy I opened of course) but occasionally I don't. The employees at borders aren't paid to care (I sure as heck wasn't!!!)

...shrink wrap? since when has shrink wrap stopped anybody?Me, when I have no reason to open it up (thereby generating more work for the employees, perpetuating the "I don't care, I'm just here for a paycheck and my free coffee" attitude), since I already own all three books, and it's easy enough to go through them with the 3.5 Accessory Update where appropriate and update them...

First off, sorry if I'm resurrecting a dead but....

I checked the Fiend Folio's Product page, there was in excerpt... In the excerpt most if not all of the monsters had the Survival skill, wasn't that introduced in 3.5 (I may be wrong I got my books in late 2004 so I've only seen 3.5 material, well except for my Oriental Adventures book...)

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20030405a (Fiend Folio Excerpt)

and if that's right than the Products page lists the most recent publication of the book, which would make the MMII still 3.0
