Damage Reduction and a Crit.

How does it work is it

Example A

(1D8 x 2) – DR

Example B

(1D8 –DR)x2

And what book did you find it in?

example A is correct.

Damage reduction applies to each hit

a critical is one hit that simply does normal the amount of damage

so Damage reduction applies to it once, being subtracted from the total damage.

How is this even close to a point of confusion? if you were to apply example B, you'd be apply Damage reduction twice to the same attack & hit.

Example A is right.
You apply DR after you multiply for critcals.

the total ruling is not explicitly stated anywhere, because it doesn't need to be.

A critical hit is still just one attack/hit. never is it any where described as being anything else

damage reduction reduces damage from an attack. by a specific number

method A follows this description

method b reduces damage reduction twice fromt eh same atack, why woudl you do that?

OK thank you for the info….. I could not find it and was hopping it was in back and white somewhere.

Other system IE Gurps say to take out the DR then Double or Triple the damage left.

Just trying to clear t up before it comes up in a game where it matters..

Does not matter to me because it works both ways…. (For the PC and NPC)
