| Yaeri01-18-05, 10:49 AM | I'm using 3.0 rules. Would damage reduction items for PC's be wise? I was making such items when I suddenly thought about monsters all having "natural unenhanced attacks". So if a PC had Damage reduction XX/+1 no monster would be able to get through it? I hope someone can clear this up for me. |
| Wickerbull01-19-05, 10:31 PM | Hmm.....in 3.0, monsters had no natural ability to overcome DR. But that was fine for 3.0. DR was different for all characters involved, be they monsters or adventurers. Since there were already DR giving items for adventurers, I'd say that as long as any item you create for your campaign isn't overpowered compared to the pre-made items in the DMG, you'll be fine. |

| JasperDm01-20-05, 03:06 AM | Actually, in 3.0 any monster with DR could circumvent that DR. For example, a creature with DR 10/+1 counted as a +1 weapon when it attacked. Same back all the way to 2nd, and forward to now. If you didn't notice, sorry, but it's in there. Otherwise, in-species combat would be pointless. |

Was it the same situation for lawful, chaotic, good and evil creatures? |
| Ogre4Hire01-21-05, 01:22 PM | No, they didn't have DR/Alignment in 3.0. PS: There's the Invulnerability Armor enchantment in the DMG that provides DR5/+1 in 3.0 (It counts as a +5 enhancement). |
| Chazmon01-21-05, 03:35 PM | In my latest campagne we have altered the armour stats to use DR as well as a reduced AC eg full plate grants +5 AC DR 4 / - this helps represent the fact that a dagger just whould not yet through. Also padded has no AC bonus representing the fact that you cant avoid hits but they may take the force out of the blow Minor damage is easy to avoid just think about a wealding apron it aint armour but it reduces the heat by a lot Chazmon |
