AC: 14 (+1 size, +1 Dex, +2 natural) Attacks: Slam +1 melee, bucket –3 melee Damage: Slam 1d4, bucket 1d4 bludgeoning Special attacks: Dust cloud Special qualities: Replicate, fire vulnerability Saves: F 0, R 1, W –5 Abilities: Str 10, Dex 12, Con -, Int -, Wis 1, Cha 1 CR: 2 The stuff of children’s stories and wizard’s nightmares, the dancing broomstick is an often under-estimated foe. If watched carefully, they can be loyal cleaners. When a foolish assistant nods off, they can reproduce themselves at a terrifying rate. Visually, the dancing broomstick is identical to an ordinary broomstick. They are usually seen carrying a small metal bucket, which they use for cleaning the wizard’s laboratory. They work best when accompanied by an exciting classical soundtrack. Combat When driven to combat (usually through overworking), the dancing broomstick is relatively weak. However, damaging the creature can result in a nasty surprise for the unwise adventurer. Dust cloud: As a move-equivalent action, a dancing broom can sweep around its immediate area at great speed. This generates a small cloud of dust in an adjacent square. Any breathing creature in that square must succeed at a fortitude save (DC 14) or enter a fit of coughing and be unable to take any actions except movement for 1 round. This ability only works in dusty or sandy areas. Replicate: If slain by mundane (i.e. slashing, piercing or bludgeoning) damage, the dancing broomstick falls apart into 1d4 pieces. After 2 rounds, these pieces grow into Tiny versions of their dancing counterparts and follow the rules for tiny animated objects. After a further 1d4 rounds, they grow into full-sized broomsticks (minus the bucket attack). A critical hit negates this ability and destroys the broomstick completely. Fire vulnerability: Dancing broomsticks take double damage from fire. |
