Yeah, I used to make monsters here all the time, but I started playing this cool video game and completely forgot these boards :( So, I'm making a D&D version of Dark Pheonix Jean Grey (evil version) from X-men 3. I might have forgotten some things, including how to calculate saves, so any comments welcome! Warning, do not look below to the monster if you haven't seen the movie, all of Jean Grey's new powers will be spoiled for you.

Jean Grey (Dark Pheonix)
Medium Psion
Hit Dice: 18d4+36 (81 hp)
Initiative: +2 (+2 Dex)
Speed: 60 ft. air (perfect)
AC: 14 (+2 Dex, +2 Natural) Touch 12, Flat-Footed 12
Base Attack: +9/+4
Grapple: +14/+9
Attack: --
Full Attack: --
Special Attacks: Psionic Disintegrate, Psionic Levitate, Tornado Blast
Special Qualities: Psionic Fly, Telekinetic Force
Abilities: Str 20, Dex 15, Con 14, Int 19, Wis 10, Cha 15

Skills: 132 Concentration +20, Knowledge (Planes) +20, Spellcraft +20, Bluff +20, Knowledge (Psionics) +20, Knowledge (Religion) +20, Knowledge (History) +12
Feats: Chaotic Mind, Closed Mind, Hostile Mind, Maximize Power, Mental Resistance, Mind Over Body
Environment: Any
Organization: None
CR: 18
Treasure: None
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Advancement: ---

Psionic Disintegrate: Deals 22d6 damage, turning the body of anything destroyed by the disintegration into fine dust. The disintegration used by Dark Pheonix uses a regular ranged attack role, not a touch ranged attack, and can be targeted on up to 10 targets per turn. A creature targeted can resist disintegration, only being dealt half damage, by making a successful fortitude save (dc 20 + 1d12). For every point of healing power a target has, a +1 bonus is added to the fortitude save.

Psionic Levitate: Lifts the manifester or an object and moves it vertically up to 20 feet per round. Used by Dark Pheonix, it can cause an object to move up to 50 feet per round, horizontally or vertically. Dark Pheonix can levitate as many objects as desired, until the total weight of the objects reaches 250 lbs.

Tornado Blast: All creatures within a 40-foot radius around the manifester are subject to 17d6 points of damage and are moved 10 x 1d4 ft from where they were. A successful reflex save results in half damage. Used by Dark Pheonix, all objects in the area, including landscape and buildings, are caused this effect. Any object within the 40-foot radius is capable of being targeted for the psionic disintegration.

Psionic Fly: The manifester can fly 60 feet in any direction for 9 minutes, after which the manifester floats down 60 ft for 1d6 rounds until he/she reaches the ground. If the manifester doesn’t reach the ground in time, the manifester falls the rest of the way.

Umm...this really belongs on the Mutants and Masterminds boards. By the way, I loved X-Men: The Last Stand. It rocked my world! :D

:bump: Comments plz

I think I'm planning to make a template for NPCs that use the pheonix force. It could prove to be a good challenge for low-level epics or the people in their late teen levels. I might add a fire attack to the template because in the X-men comics, Pheonix could use powerful fire attacks. Oh, and btw, where are the ''Mutants and Masterminds'' boards?

That works well for Jean Grey's own abilities, and if your just sticking with how she was in the movie works fine. I personally think it would be cool to do the Phoenix as it is in the comic. The person above me mentioned making it a template, and I think it definately should be one. I'd call it Phoenix Possessed probably. Anyways Jean Grey being a Psion is perfect. However the Phoenix itself would be an outsider creature. After all it is a cosmic entity, which basically is Marvel's equivalent of an outsider. And yeah, it would have some pretty awesome fire powers, as well as the ability to resurrect people.

Mutants & Masterminds (http://www.mutantsandmasterminds.com/) is a d20 System game for making superheroes and comic book type characters. It's made to model things like the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk, and so on. It's a far better system than D&D for making superherores.

The Monster forum is not appropriate for this post; Jean Grey was not a monster, she was a human (Mutant) with talent & training in psychic powers. That would make this an appropriate post for the Psionics board, or the NPC board.

i would give the dark Pheonix and faster fly speed, and maybe give her the ability to chnage in the Pheonix form in the MM2 but as dark flames. give her more hp and higher ac, and spell casting ability to make her more D&D, i like the Psionic side doh, nice thinking.
