Darktentacles [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-16-04, 02:59 PM Have anybody seen the Darktentacles from the Monster Manual II? Is his CR right? ONly 7? My players died in his hands, and were all 8th level (one psychic warrior, one shadow psion/constructor and one thri-kreen psion and one rogue). After all, 12 attacks is a pain in the ass, as well with the + 30 grapple bonus.

01-16-04, 09:35 PM could be the focus of psionics and a lack of real fighting ability. If your characters would have been straight Fighter, Wizard, Rogue, and Cleric, they probably would have done much better.

Besides the Darktentacles, the +30 grapple bonus is not to hit, only for the opposed grapple check. And it only has an average of 67 hps. 4 8th level characters should be able to deal that out pretty quickly. Like I said, probably a lack of beef. :)

01-17-04, 11:43 PM almost killed my party too, youll notice alot of things in MM II have wonky cr levels

the jujumangus (something like that) is way to high, and has double standard, for not that good of abilitys

the juggernaught, however is a killer at his level, not to mention a construct that fast heals....?
