Motes are tiny fey that wrestle. They really love to wrestle. All day long, you'll find them wrestling each other or discussing wrestling tactics or moves. Other fey don't really care to wrestle, however. So most motes are encountered traveling the wilderness looking for 'big folk' to wrestle. They have even been known to challenge monsters, to prove their wrestling ability.

Motes generally look like small humans, except they have very exaggerated upper torsos, tiny lower bodies and tiny heads with no necks.

Combat
Motes are some of the fiercest of the fey. Although that fierceness is more a result of their own self-confidence rather than through any innate aggression. Motes will often prepare for combat by using their spell-like abilities, and then immediately leap into combat.
Bull's Strength (Sp): 3/day bull's strength (self only). This ability is as the spell cast by a 5th-level sorcerer.
Mote Wrestling: Motes are expert wrestlers, trained from birth. Their natural wrestling skills have resulted in some amazing abilities. When grappling or attempting a grapple, motes ignore any penalties due to size. Additionally, motes deal grapple damage as a medium-size monk of their racial HD (ie at 3 HD the mote deals 1d6 grapple damage, at 4HD they deal 1d8 grapple damage).

Hey, this is really good!!!! I just have one comment though. I think that the special quality "mote wrestling" should actually be a special attack, because it's basically an offensive ability. Otherwise, this is totally cool!

well, when I think of mote wrestling as being more an inherent quality of their being, rather than a special attack form such as a breath weapon or stony gaze.

Well, it was just a suggestion. Anyway, I have a question. Can they only use Bull's Strength on themselves, or on other people as well?

thanks for pointing that out. It's meant so that they only can use the ability on themselves.

does anyone here think the LA is too high? I was wavering between LA +3 and +2.

I'd keep it at +3, considering that there's really no penalty for this creature's size. The Strength bonus offsets the reduced carrying capacity, and the "mote wrestling" offsets the size penalties in a grapple. The only problem with size is that this creature has no reach, which is offset by the Dexterity, size, and natural armor bonuses, which are useful for avoiding attacks of oppurtunity. Although, just for balance, I think you could safely give them Improved Grapple as a bonus feat while keeping them at a +3 LA.

Personally, I think a +2 LA would be fine. They're stat boni and special abilities are pretty good but they also have 4 fey hit die. That's a pretty big mitigating factor.

+3 would be nice if they could fly.

thanks for the input. I've decided to put the LA to +2. If this were official WotC material, I'm sure it'd be +3, but this race certainly isn't worth an ECL +7.

+2 is good anyway. Although you'd probably go right up to +3 if you gave it one more benefit, like giving it a bonus feat or bonus to skill checks. Now I just have one more question. It says under "mote wrestling" that motes ignore all size penalties to grappling. Does this include not being able to get a hold on a creature 2 or more size catergories larger than you? I should probably assume that it does....

I was never even aware of such a thing. So I suppose the answer would be yes. Otherwise it would be hard to humiliate most PCs.

Okay then. If you need verification, it's says on pg. 156 of the PHB 3.5 in the section of Grappling called "Starting a Grapple" and it's in the 3rd paragraph of Step 3:Hold. It says something like, "you automataically fail to get a hold on a target if it's 2 or more sizes larger than you."
