Death Knight Damage Reduction [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-22-04, 05:55 AM Ok, for those who don't know, Death Knights were mentioned in the Monster Manual II as a template, so this is what I'll be referring to.

In their entry, it says they get damage reduction 15/+1. I've checked the update booklets and SRD, and it doesn't say what their new damage reduction for 3.5 is. I was thinking 10/magic and good, but that might be a little too powerful.

Thoughts?

01-22-04, 06:56 PM I'd say 5/good and magic. I read in the update booklet that 5/whatever means that the monster's more difficult to kill, while 10-15/whatever means that the monster is much more difficult to kill, or something along those lines. Most creatures with DR have had it lowered in the updating process. Death Knights wouldn't be an exception. I hope that helps.

01-22-04, 07:08 PM The Death Knight Templete in the Dragonlance Campaign setting (where Lord Soth THE Death Knight originates) has damage reduction 10/Magic.

These templetes are similar even thought he DL Death Knight has some additional powers.

Here's another reference: If you download the free adventure, Matters of Vengeance, there's a death knight named Ombrol Lasodan on page 12. He has DR 15/bludgeoning and magic.

Hey! Thanks! The damage reduction in 3.0 was 10/+1, and since generally +1 changes to magic, I was worried these things would be a little underpowered in 3.5...but bludgeoning and magic is *perfect*. Thanks a lot :D I grabbed the adventure, and it'll actually help me make my death knight (he's pretty much the same as Ombrol).
