This creature started when my kids were pretending to be chased by some little creatures the called Blackheads and if the kids were cought by the blackheads, they would get turned into zombies.

Well, I did this write up for the project in my sig, but had no response about them. I'd like to see what other thought about the CR and all that before I add them compleatly to that project.

Blackheads were once normal pixies that lived a peaceful life in their mountain field. A natural portal to the realm of the dead opened on the ley line that ran through their home. The energy from the gate changed these fay into something much different. Called Blackheads because of their penchant for wearing blackened skulls from owls or other small animals. Blackheads lost their permanent invisibility and their spell like abilities have changed. Blackhead sorcerers tend to pick spell from the Necromancy school.

Deathwatch (Su): A blackhead can determine the condition of creatures near death within the 30 feet. As if under the effects of the Deathwatch spell.

Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day- Alter Self, Black Tentacles, Cause Fear (DC 14), lesser confusion (DC 14), Death Knell (DC 15), Detect Thoughts (DC 15), Ray of Frost (DC 14). Caster level 8th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
One blackhead in ten can use Repulsion (caster level 8th) once per day.
permanent Deathwatch
Special Arrows (Ex): Blackheads sometimes employ arrows that deal no hit point damage but deal constitution damage. An opponent struck by this arrow must succeed on a DC 15 Fort save or suffer from 2 points of constitution damage. The save DC is Charisma-based and includes a +2 racial bonus.

A blackhead character exchanges its 1 HD of fey for its first class level.
Blackhead characters possess the following racial traits.
— –4 Strength, +8 Dexterity, +6 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +6 Charisma.
—Small size. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, –4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits 3/4 those of Medium characters.
—A blackhead’s base land speed is 20 feet. It also has a fly speed of 40 ft. (poor)
—Low-light vision.
—Skills: Blackheads have a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.
—Racial Feats: A blackhead receives Dodge as a bonus feat.
— +1 natural armor bonus.
—Special Attacks (see above): Spell-like abilities.
—Special Qualities (see above): Damage reduction 10/cold iron, deathwatch, spell resistance equal to 15 + class levels.

—Favored Class: Sorcerer.
—Level adjustment +4.

Necro-pixies? Cool!

Skills: Fort + , Ref + , Will +

 A typo, perhaps?

Environment:

I assume this is Mountain Field Blighted By Undead Energies ;)

SLAs look okay, although repulsion and black tentacles are a bit strong for a 1-HD creature.

May I suggest that someone slain by their necromantic arrows rises as a zombie? In keeping with the whole necromantic theme. The blackheads can't control them, so the zombies would just rampage around randomly.

Ack!!!! I don't believe I missed that, I'm going to have to go back and redue that.
Thanks for pointing that out. :)

I left that open, intending to detail the area they live in, and then placeing that name of that place there. It is an "intentional oversight".
But yes, it's an area of the world where a natural Gate to the plane of the dead exists and malfuntioned, bleading into the world.

I tried to keep in line with the power level of the Pixie in the MM.
irresistible dance (caster level 8th) was replaced by repulsion
black tentacles is greater then entangle, but several of the other spells were lowered. I'll give that some thought though

I thought about that, but I thought that would be to much for a CR4.

I appreciate the input. Thank you :)

Cool. Very well done the are. Thoughts though:

The arrow description seems a little clumsy. Why not just have it be poison?

Also, the Always seems extreme. Why not usually or often?

I changed the Always to Ususlly.
I was going on the idea of them still useing "magic arrows", but poison would probobly be better.
I'll have to rewrite that when I have a little more time.

I'm not sure if I'm should be flattered or offended.

(I also conclude with R.M.G.C.L.F. The arrows should be poisoned, not "special". Besides, if they're being fired from a pixie-sized bow, chances are they're only going to do about 1 point of damage.)

No offence intended Insane Pixie :)

I will change that to poisoned arrows (after I find the proper wording in the SRD )

You did have me dubble checking the weapon dammage, it was exactly the same as the pixie in the SRD (1d6–2) for the bow. I know it looks high.

Since I have the Pixie enrty open, I'd go with most of the skills a pixie has, but changeing Bluff to intimidate, the exact numbers I'd need some more time to work out :) (the MM pixie looks like it has way to many skill points, or not, there is 36 skill points to spend).

You know, with the source material your kids talked about, I figure it would help if you gave them some sort of undead-creating spell-like ability. Animate Dead seems to potent, perhaps try something from the arrays of my Necromancer class?

I'm interested, but I can't find your necromancer :)
(Google search is giving me a fit right now)

OIther options could be a group ritual, etc.
Ability to make zombies is hard for a low HD, low CR creature. That what the Necro Sorcerors are for. :)
