| tryco02-03-06, 10:06 AM | I'm looking for creatures that live in the deep jungles. let say the amazon. what kind of creatures live there? i would think: apes jaguars or creatures with the wood template (MotP). violet funges |
| The Vorpal Tribble02-03-06, 10:29 AM | Plant and fey creatures galore (assassin vines everywhere. In fact, in one of my games a race has planted the vines absolutely everywhere around their property and their druids calm them and regularly harvest the fruit. So not only is it a great protector, its also a provider of constant food) Blood Apes (MM II or III, I forget which) Dire Maggots (Libris Mortis) Any insect swarms Giant insects Dromite hives (Expanded Psionic Handbook) Poison dusk lizardfolk (MM III) Woodlings (MM III template) Yuan'ti Zeuglaks and Silithars from Lords of Madness would be a must (particularly silthilars) Any and all snakes Maybe an udoroot from the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Fungiforms if you have Hyperconscious, I used them in a jungle-based campaign of mine... which promptly ended the game. Not a player made the save or casted a spell to heal diseases before they were taken over. Capybaras (I just used the dire rat) Jungle creatures with Titanic template (theres a 3.5 update manual for it because it was originaly 3.0). Gotta love a gargantuan poison dart frog ;) Hope that gives you some ideas. |

Challenge Rating: 2 Treasure: Standard Alignment: Usually Chaotic Evil Advancement: By character class Level Adjustment: +1 A Gar’Jin troll stands 6 to 7-1/2 feet tall and weigh 200 to 320 pounds. Their eyes are like those of a predator, sharp and attentive. Their eyes vary in colour from red to yellow. A Gar’Jin trolls skin is usually in shades of green or brown; usually all members of a single tribe are about the same colour. Gar’Jin trolls usually wear leather armor or clothing in shades of green. Gar’Jin trolls speak Troll; those with Intelligence scores of 12 or higher also speak Common. Most Gar’Jin trolls are either warriors or rangers. Being trained as hunters since birth, they are very talented at hunting and killing their prey. When at war, Gar’Jin trolls paint their faces with blood red colours and brandish greataxes and barbed hunting nets. COMBAT Being bloodthirsty and vicious Gar’Jin trolls prefer to charge their enemies head on, throwing barbed nets at their enemies and then stabbing at them with spears. If outnumbered though, they instead craft ingenuous traps and set ambushes. Very few who have been ambushed by Gar’Jin trolls have lived long enough to see their assailants, and hardly anyone have survived at all. After a battle they often use their long, razor sharp tusks to rip up the ribcages of the fallen and eat their hearts and liver. Skills: Gar’Jin trolls have a +4 racial bonus on Move Silently, Craft (traps) and Survival checks. They also have a +2 on hide checks when in forests. Most Gar’Jin trolls have a few ranks in handle animal so they can control their vicious hunting Howlers. Challenge Rating: Gar’Jin trolls with levels in NPC classes have a CR equal to their character level –1. GAR’JIN TROLLS AS CHARACTERS Gar’Jin troll characters possess the following racial traits. — +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, –2 Charisma. — Medium: As Medium creatures, Gar’Jin trolls have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.. —A Gar’Jin troll’s base land speed is 30 feet. —Darkvision out to 60 feet. — +4 racial bonus on Move Silently, Craft (traps) and Survival and also +2 on hide checks when in forests or other foliage. — Special Qualities: Fast healing 1 —Weapon Proficiencies: Gar’Jin trolls are proficient with all simple weapons and also with the Greataxe, greatclub, shortbow and barbed net. —Automatic Languages: Common, Troll. Bonus Languages: Elven, Giant, Gnoll, Orc, Goblin, Dwarf —Favored Class: Barbarian and ranger. The Gar’Jin troll warrior presented here had the following ability scores before racial adjustments: Str 15, Dex 16, Con 15, Int 13, Wis 13, Cha 8. Level Adjustment: +1 I designed these, and they belong in the campaign world that i'm currently working on, but please excuse this self promotion. These trolls are sort of like the ones in Warcraft. Slightly larger than humans, very agile, and they have tusks. I figured that these might work well in any jungle setting =) |
| Laowai12-21-06, 11:33 AM | hm, i noticed just now that these trolls are highly overpowered. i'd say at least +2 meybe even +3 level adjustment. Sorry for bumping a thread this old btw. |
