Can you guys help me? Im making an underwater campaign and I wanted to know where I could find (or you could give me) stats and combat listings for some cool undersea monsters. (they can be land based too since there will be an underwater facilitie as long as they relate to the ocean I.E. big daddy from, bioshock)

Deep Sea Vine

This plant based creatures only purpose in life is to consume living things, wether they be fish or seals, eals or poeple. They lurk in the bottom of the ocean and feel all around with there great long expance of feelers, stretching miles away from the base plant, which appears to be a kelp. They are gray-green and there tentacles are barbed and can shoot stingers. They attack in many different ways, wether its constricting or raising like a cobra and shooting a stinger. These plants are bottom feeders, and will eat anything they come across. {Stats in next post}:)

Stormwrack obviously has a lot geared toward the water creatures.
Many of the dragons in the Draconomicon would work too
And there are some powerful water-dwellers in the Fiend Folio and the MM2

Magna-snail (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-218955)
Not terribly strong but good living-scenery.

The Horror of Party Beach (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=288117) should make a good corny low-level encounter.

Sea Serpent (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=7120688#post7120688) and my alternate Kraken (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-493651) are good undersea staple creatures. Don't forget the cannon Kraken as well.

Seagur (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-514153) a nice visually memorable sea-beastie.

Abaratian Creatures (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-464484) would do well to populate your seas. The Sea Skippers are a nice friendly, neutral or hostile encounter as far as sentient beings go. There's also a variety of dangerous deep sea species to pick from: Scalpel Fish, Furnace Fish, Black-backed scorpion crab, along with the mickelfish and the lovecraftian pious Grelgameres.

Smiling Medinas (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-569813) can breath water and travel aquatically.

Sea Urchin (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-610914) one of nature's right horrible little buggers.

The Aquanek (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-611812) is a powerful construct-warrior in land or sea.

The Sitronite (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-625580) would make for a nasty encounter, disguising itself as a friendly water elf, morphing into a tentacle-mouthed shark or giant squid. BTW, the creature should have speed 30ft, swim 40ft.

Clinging Medinas (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-652128) are even more appropriate than smiling medinas. Great for guarding a little underwater cave or coral tunnel.

An aquatic loombah (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-745957) would certainly be at home wandering the ocean floors.

Let me know if any of these creatures fit your needs.

Get ready for the most terrifying sea monster in history. This was my first epic creature, and I'm quite proud of it. Its name is a portmanteau of "R'lyeh," "Saarlack," and "Scylla."

Sca’arlya
Colossal Magical Beast (extraplanar, water)
Hit Dice: 50d10+650 (925 hp)
Initiative: +5
Speed: swim 60 ft./burrow 40 ft.
Armor Class: 49 (-8 size, +1 dex +46 natural), touch 3, flat-footed 48
Base Attack/Grapple: +35/+66
Attack: 2 snakes +42 melee (2d8+15 and poison), 6 tentacles +39 melee (2d10+7 and improved grab), and bite +39 melee (4d8+22 and improved grab)
Space/Reach: 200 ft./60 ft (snakes and tentacles)/10 ft (bite)
Special Attacks: Fleshharrow Swarm, Ink Cloud, Poison, Improved Grab, Swallow Whole
Special Qualities: Tremorsense 360, Regeneration 30/-, SR 40, Mindless, Immune to Ability Drain, Immune to Death Effects, Regrow Limb, Ferocity
Saves: Fort +40, Ref +28, Will +27
Abilities: Str 40, Dex 12, Con 36, Int -, Wis 24, Cha 20
Skills: Spot +27, Listen +27, Swim +34
Feats: Multiattack, Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Epic Reflexes, Improved Spell Resistance, Improved Natural Armor (2), Improved Natural Attack (3), Ability Focus (poison), Quicken Ability (fleshharrow swarm, ink cloud), Swimby Attack, Gulp, Great Dexterity (2)
Challenge Rating: 27
Treasure: Sca’arlya’s pearl (200,000 gp gem)
Alignment: Neutral

A collosal, segmented eel or water worm, with huge fins running down its body. Literally hundreds of feet long and dozens in diameter, its round, lamprey mouth is ringed by six, octopus-like tentacles and two giant serpents that grow out of its head.

Combat

Sca'arlya can usually be found buried in the sea floor, in a giant ant-lion pit (80 feet across and 40 feet deep), with only its mouth (35 feet across) and appendages visible above the sand. It sends its spawn to hunt in the surrounding waters and bring back food to return to its mouth with. It will try to grab and devour any creature that comes close, dragging it into the pit with its tentacles and eating it.

If it takes more than 50 points of damage, Sca'arlya will burst out of the pit and fight actively.

Poison (Ex): Snake. Fortitude DC 50. Initial damage: 2d6 strength. Secondary damage: paralysis for 1d4 minutes. Save DC is constitution based.

Improved Grab (Ex): Bite or tentacle, gargantuan or smaller. If it grabs a victim in its mouth, it can attempt to swallow it immediately. If it grabs him in its tentacle, it must transfer him to the mouth first, which takes an extra round (that tentacle is busy for that round).

Swallow Whole (Ex): With a second successful grapple check, it can swallow a creature in its mouth whole. The beast’s stomach has room for 1 gargantuan, 4 huge, 16 large, or 64 medium creatures. While inside the stomach, victims take 4d6+7 normal and 2d8 acid damage per round. To escape, either succeed at a DC 49 Escape Artist check to return to the mouth, or deal 40 damage to the beast’s stomach lining with a light slashing weapon (beast takes full damage) to be coughed up. To avoid being coughed up requires another grapple check; to cut one’s way out completely requires 80 damage per victim’s size category (minimum 80) being dealt.

Fleshharrow Swarm (Ex): Three times per day, Sca’arlya can belch forth a horde of deformed sea vermin. Each use of this ability summons 1d4+1 swarms of little sharks, squid, crabs, or sea snakes. Swarms last for one hour. These swarms are only insta-killed by area of effect spells if they deal more than 15 damage. All swarms have the following stats, with unique adjustments as noted below:

Fleshharrow Swarm, tiny magical beast, HD: 20d10+80 (190), Initiative +3, Speed: swim 40, AC: 20 (touch 15, flat footed 15), BAB: +20, Attack: swarm (4d6), Distraction (DC 24), Immune to crushing, Half damage from slashing and piercing, SR 24, Fort +16, Ref +15, Will +8. AL: N. CR 13.

Sharks: blood frenzy. If damaged, the sharks go berserk, doing an extra 1d6 damage, increasing their swim speed to 60, and increasing their constitution (and, by extension, save DC’s by 2 and HP by 40) by 4. They also lose 2 AC while in this state. Sharks also have Scent.

Squid: Improved Grab, grapple +19. Will attempt to drag victim’s toward Sca’arlya’s mouth.

Crabs: replace swim speed with a walking and climbing speed of 20. Crabs have 10 extra hp and 2 extra natural armor. They often crawl on their mother’s body, waiting to swarm onto anyone who strikes her (reflex DC 23 to avoid).

Snakes: poison. DC 24. Initial and secondary: 2d4 constitution.

Ink (Ex): Three times per day, Sca’arlya can spit an ink cloud, producing a nonmagical effect identical to the solid fog spell as cast by a twenty-fifth level caster, save DC con based.

Regrow Limb (Ex): Because Sca'arlya's snakes and tentacles are so long and sinuous, they may be attacked individually as though they were seperate creatures. Each appendage has an armor class of 47, 57 hit points, and regenerates 5 points per round. Damage done to the limbs deals half damage to the main body's hp column (which regenerates at the normal rate). A severed tentacle or snake grows back in 10 rounds.

Regeneration (Ex): The only way to kill the Sca’arlya is by reducing it to -10 hp or below, using wish or miracle (spell resistance applies) to suspend its regeneration before it can heal back to -9 or higher (its regeneration will be stopped for one round per caster level. This only works after it has been reduced below -10). 100 points of damage must be dealt to it with epic weapons or spells while the regeneration is suspended.

Killing the creature will yield Sca’arlya’s pearl, possibly the largest and most priceless gem in existence.

You might also look at supplements such as Monsters of the Boundless Blue (Goodman Games) and Into the Blue (Bastion Press).

Granted, investing in Discovery's "Blue Planet" DVD series is also a wise investment, should you be considering an undersea game. You might also visit the website for the Monterey Bay Aquarium (http://www.mbayaq.org/) and look at the live webcams they have online.

It might be wise to peruse some prior threads on the topic, such as THIS ONE (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=841612)

I was looking on my bookshelf for Libris Mortis, the other day, and came across this instead: The Field Guide to Lake Monsters, Sea Serpents, and Other Mystery Denizens of the Deep (http://www.amazon.com/Field-Monsters-Serpents-Mystery-Denizens/dp/1585422525/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195648250&sr=8-1)

While you're over at amazon.com, take a gander at Ocean (http://www.amazon.com/Ocean-Robert-Dinwiddie/dp/0756622050/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195648334&sr=1-1), a very useful source of inspiration.
