| sandskimmer01-07-04, 05:34 PM | The adventure module "Pool of Radiance: Attack on Myth Drannor" also has the CR listed as 8. Just by looking at the thing, one would think it should be closer to 12 (10 at least), but my party of 7th & 8th level characters had no problems defeating the creature. I'm not sure why, as I used it most intelligently and the adventure module even said that it would be a very difficult fight for the party. (The module is for lvl 6 characters.) I think its exceptionally low AC has something to do with it. Those cover mods it gets from its treasure mound don't really help alot... |

The crappish AC is so low that he get hit frequently in combat and thus cannot use its spell like abilities, I have once run one of these beasts, advanced to the max hit dices possible against 4 level 16 chars. The only danger of the encounter happened when the partys fighers learned that the thing had only AC16-18, he turned against the party and Shouted: "The first one of you guys that attack the beast will taste my sword! Its power attack time!" And so he charged the thing... |
