Does anyone have any guidance on how to define the Yuan-ti Tainted One's polymorph into "snake or snakelike forms"?

Defining "snake" is easy enough.

However, would "snakelike" encompass other powerful serpent-like monsters like nagas or banelars? Or does this not fit the intent of this ability? My guess is that the intent behind a yuan-ti tainted one's polymorph ability is to change into lesser snakelike forms (e.g., regular or even giant-sized snakes) as opposed to more advanced snakelike forms (e.g., nagas, banelars, et cetera).

Any thoughts?

According to my copy of "Serpent Kingdoms" Tainted Ones are the human victims of a magical concoction, turning them into their tainted form. They are the lowest in their society and from that I surmise they dont have strong shapeshifting powers.
In the appendix is a racial trait table listing a polymorph self power (usable 3 times per day) which can be used for snakes only and nothing else.
I could not find the full description of tainted ones in that book (they omitted almost all descriptions of monsters described elsewhere) and also not in my MM, so I can only go by that entry, which denies forms of nagas and similar.

The Yuan-ti Tainted One template can be found in both the Monster of Faerun and the Savage Species sourcebooks.
