| Sssargoth02-27-06, 12:49 AM | This is something that nobody has wanted to answer for me, and I cant figure it out on my own either. I feel somewhat embarrased asking this, so, here it is. What is the LA of an awakened Deinonychus? |
| runestar02-27-06, 12:53 AM | The general trend for animals is a LA of +2. I extrapolated this from the lycantrope template, which imposes a blanket ECL adjustment of +3LA + HD. :) |
| obrysii02-27-06, 12:19 PM | Awakened animals have an LA of +0, as they acquire two additional HD from the Awaken spell. Their disabilities as a character are what warrent, in my opinion, an LA +0 . |
| Hyrael the Dreamer02-27-06, 12:54 PM | why be an awakened animal, when you can just make a new race? take thse guys, a little creation of my own: Raptor +2 dex, +2 wis Animal (no low-light vision, retains intel score) 40 ft 1d6 claw(2), 1d6 bite, 1d8 talon(2) Hunt Mastery(+2 on hide, move silently, spot, listen, and survival checks. may move at 3/4 normal speed while Moving Silently and Hiding without penalty. always treat Knowledge (nature) and survival as class skills) No Weapons Proficiency: raptors do not gain weapon proficiencies through class levels, though they can still gain them through taking feats) Auto lang: draconic. Bonus Lang: common, gnoll, elven, sylvan Fav class: ranger (raptor rangers have acess to an additional combat style, Tooth and Claw, which gives them Multiattack, Pounce, and Improved Multiattack at the appropriate levels) LA+1 |
| Sssargoth02-27-06, 01:18 PM | why be an awakened animal, when you can just make a new race? Simple. Being an awakened animal gives so many opportunities for RP, and making all hell break lose. |
| Sssargoth03-06-06, 01:42 AM | Hello? Anyone else have anything to contribute to the discussion? I havent gotten a definate aswer, and its definately needed. One more thing! :bump: |
| runestar03-06-06, 04:02 AM | I still stand by my suggestion of +2LA.:) |
| Factol Rhys03-06-06, 01:12 PM | Isn't there a chart at the end of Savage Species that gives LAs for just about every creature in the MM? Including animals? |
| reepicheep03-06-06, 02:32 PM | +2 sounds good, treat this as a definite answer and just leave it be! Jeez |
| Dracomortis03-17-06, 07:39 PM | Savage Species lists LA for anthromorphic animals. I stand by the +2 LA as per the lycanthrope template. |
| Korone03-17-06, 07:52 PM | why be an awakened animal, when you can just make a new race? Yeah, exactly. Why be the race you want when you can be something completely different which barely have any links with what you wanted to play just to have a lower ECL? |
| Sssargoth03-17-06, 08:54 PM | Savage Species lists LA for anthromorphic animals. I stand by the +2 LA as per the lycanthrope template. That makes little sense, because its not a lycanthrope. I already know of the anthro list, and there arent any anthro dinos anyway... |
| Hedstrong03-17-06, 10:43 PM | Take a look at similiar animals. I chose a Lion, same CR, and close phsyical attributes. Now, in Savage Species they have a Lion's LA at +1, with an ECL of 3, So i don't see why +1 isn't a good choice. |
