| Delvesdeep03-23-07, 08:55 PM | What book would I find the demon called a Babua? What type of demons could I use as army grunts for an invasion (Level 1-6). I have MM, MM2, MM3 and Fiend Folio as resources but can not find anything appropriate. Thanks for your help Delvesdeep |

| dndfencer03-23-07, 09:09 PM | Do they really have to be demons? If you want you could rule that the abyss has mainly humanoids and the demons are just sort of masters. I totally understand though if this doesn't fit this campaign; it's just something i always wanted to put out there b/c really, the fact that anything is dominant on any given plane is just fluff and thusly can be changed. :cheer: :duel: :cheer: :invasion: |

It is for a side trek I'm writing involving the banished demonic general called Nabthatoran's who needs to destroy the town of Redgorge before he can return to the Abyss. The creatures with him are demons who have been sitting around in the Demonskar for thousands of years and were once part of his invading army. Have a look in the Shackled City Adventure Path for more details if you are interested. Thanks Delvesdeep |
| Raptorial03-23-07, 09:47 PM | This is the SRD. (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html) Look under monsters D in the subsection of demons. |
| Return of the Flumph03-23-07, 10:28 PM | Dretches (MM) and Manes (FC1) are the usual demonic grunts. Some demons can also make undead, so skeletons, zombies, and ghouls might also be supplementary footsoldiers. |
| primemover00303-24-07, 08:35 AM | Like Flumph said Dretches and Manes are your best bet for low level grunts/fodder. Quasits make nice spies and infiltrators, saboteurs even. Babau's are assassins and make good lieutenants. If I were you I'd use low level Tieflings to round out your battalion of demons, NCO's if you will. |
| Khael03-24-07, 12:06 PM | As said dretch and manes, ARE the grunts. Even against a ground-borne pit fiend. Its just a matter of how many million you throw... And for a nasty trick... have any winged demon drop Jovocs from on high. D&D has its own version of the napalm/antipersonnel strike all right... But if you do use this tactic, it is only fitting you at least hum 'ride of the valkyries' if not actually play the piece. Declaring 'I love the smell of splattered Jovoc in the morning... smells like victory' is entirely optional. Or at least load catapults with Jovocs. It does at lest give a chance to the possible, 'hold off army' if they get to go behind enemy line to destroy the catapults... |
