Surely it would be pretty boring to have a dungeon with just a minotaur, but what other creatures would a minotaur allow to remain in his dungeon? (I'm thinking of less powerful creatures, as I'd like the minotaur to be the main battle.) I think a swarm in a couple areas would be good. What else?

In particular, I was considering a hook in which the minotaur has been employing weaker creatures to pillage the surrounding settlements to collect treasure to keep in his labyrinth as a lure to attract adventurers. What would be a good choice for the weaker creatures? Orcs? Goblins? Hobgoblins? Bugbears? I was thinking maybe an amphibious race, as it might make more sense that the minotaur would let them remain in the more dank corner of the labyrinth (where maybe an underground stream passes) as long as they continue to pay him a tribute. Not trogs, as they would smell too bad. Maybe Lizardfolk?

Thanks in advance,
Jamie

Gnolls and Lizardfolk work quite well for the raider-types.

And if you're looking for labyrinth guardians, there's no better place to go than various forms of minor undead.

Or golems, for that matter.

There's few types of golems weak enough to serve a standard minotaur, but I'm sure we could dig something up. Good call.

Have you considered Skum? I think that is how it is spelt. They could work quite well.

In my experience, if you want to use a classical style Minotaur your best bet is to only use the Minotaur as a monster, the rest is traps and other things to harry the PC's, perhaps a ghost or something from one of the minotaurs victims.
