| M-bark02-20-08, 03:09 PM | A Descendant of Many Dragons has several dragon ancestors, not so distant that it is merely a draconic creature, and not closely related enough to be a half-dragon. They often possess abilities and features that betray their heritage. They may possess some scaled bodyparts, elongated features, slit pupils, and exaggerated teeth and claws. Often they possess multiple breath weapons, and they possess great longevity due to their heritage. CREATING A DESCENDANT OF MANY DRAGONS “Descendant of Many Dragons” is an inherited or acquired template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature (referred to hereafter as the base creature). To see how it can be acquired, read the part at the bottom of the post. A Descendant of Many Dragons uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here. Size and Type: Type and size are unchanged. Hit Dice: HD are unchanged. Speed: Speed is unchanged. Armor Class: Natural armor improves by +1. Attack: A Descendant of Many Dragons has two claw attacks, and the claws are the primary natural weapon. If the base creature can use weapons, the Descendant of Many Dragons retains this ability. A Descendant of Many Dragons fighting without weapons uses a claw when making an attack action. When it has a weapon, it usually uses the weapon instead. Full Attack: A Descendant of Many Dragons fighting without weapons uses both claws when making a full attack. If armed with a weapon, it usually uses the weapon as its primary attack and one of its claws as a natural secondary attack, if it has a hand free. Damage: Descendant of Many Dragons have claw attacks. If the base creature does not have these attack forms, use the damage values in the table below. Otherwise, use the values below or the base creature’s damage values, whichever are greater. Size Claw Damage Tiny 1 Small 1d2 Medium 1d3 Large 1d4 Huge 1d6 Gargantuan 1d8 Colossal 1d10 Special Attacks: A Descendant of Many Dragons retains all the special attacks of the base creature and gains a breath weapon based on the dragon variety (see the table below), usable once per day. The breath weapon of a Descendant of Many Dragons deals 2d8 points of damage. A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 Descendant's racial HD + Descendant's Con modifier (Cha modifier if Undead)) reduces damage by half. Any special effects a breath weapon might have has the same DC needed as the Reflex save. Dragon Breath Effect Variety Weapon Black 30-foot line of acid Blue 30-foot line of lightning Green 15-foot cone of corrosive (acid) gas Red 15-foot cone of fire White 15-foot cone of cold Brass 15-foot cone of sleep no damage, Will save or fall asleep for 1d6 rounds Bronze 15-foot cone of repulsion gas no damage, Will save or be compelled to do nothing but move away from the Descendant for 1d6 rounds Copper 15-foot cone of slow gas no damage, Fortitude save or be slowed for 1d6 rounds Gold 15-foot cone of weakening gas no damage, Fortitude save or take 1 point of Strength damage Silver 15-foot cone of paralyzing gas no damage, Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 1d6 rounds Amethyst 30-foot line of force Crystal 30-foot line of blinding light Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d6 rounds Emerald 15-foot cone of deafening sound Fortitude save or be deafened for 1d6 rounds Sapphire 15-foot cone of panicking sound Will save or be panicked for 1d6 rounds Topaz 15-foot cone of dehydration Constitution check or become fatigued Orange 30-foot line of fire Purple 30-foot line of blinding light Fortitude save or be blinded for 1d6 rounds Yellow 30-foot line of corrosive (acid) salt water Obsidian 15-foot cone of fire Breath Weapon Combinations: If a Descendant is descended from certain specific kinds of dragons, it can shape its breath weapon into a different shape: Green and Copper: Descendant can choose to breathe a 30-foot line instead of a 15-foot cone of acid. Red and Brass: Descendant can choose to breathe a 30-foot line instead of a 15-foot cone of fire. Amethyst and Purple: Descendant can choose to breathe a 15-foot cone instead of a 30-foot line of force. Special Qualities: A Descendant has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus darkvision out to 60 feet and low-light vision. A Descendant also has an additional resistance based on its dragon variety. Resistances gained because of multiple ancestors with the same resistance stack. Dragon Resistance Variety Black Acid 5 Brass Fire 5 Blue Electricity 5 Bronze Electricity 5 Green Acid 5 Copper Acid 5 Red Fire 5 Gold Fire 5 White Cold 5 Silver Cold 5 Amethyst Force 5 Crystal Special* Emerald Sonic 5** Sapphire Sonic 5*** Topaz Special**** Orange Fire 5 Purple Force 5***** Yellow Acid 5 Obsidian Fire 5 *A Descendant with a crystal dragon ancestor is immune to being blinded or dazzled, and does not take damage from light-based spells (spells with the [Light] descriptor). **A Descendant with an emerald dragon ancestor is immune to being deafened. ***A Descendant with a sapphire dragon ancestor is immune to mind-affecting effects that work through sound. ****A Descendant with a topaz dragon ancestor is immune to dehydration and does not require extra water in hot or very hot climates. *****A Descendant with a purple dragon ancestor is immune to being blinded or dazzled, and does not take damage from light-based spells (spells with the [Light] descriptor). Skills: A Descendant has a +2 racial bonus to Intimidate and Spot. Environment: Same as the base creature. Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature + 1 (minimum 2). Alignment: Same as the base creature. Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +2. Why a Descendant is one of Many Dragons “Descendant of Many Dragons” can be applied multiple times. Each time it is applied, a different dragon variety must be picked. “Descendant of Many Dragons” can also be used as an acquired template. When a creature consumes or otherwise gets a lot of dragon blood in its body, the magical properties of the dragon’s blood cause slight mutations in the creature, granting it the template. As with the inherited version, the acquired version can be applied multiple times. A Descendant of Many Dragons’ dragon ancestors are at least two generations removed (because if it was only one generation removed, it would be its parent and it would be a Half-Dragon). If it has three or more dragon ancestors, they are at least three generations removed. If it has five or more dragon ancestors, they are at least four generations removed. If it has seven or more dragon ancestors, they are at least five generations removed. If it has nine or more dragon ancestors, they are at least six generations removed. If it has eleven or more dragon ancestors, they are at least seven generations removed. If it has thirteen or more dragon ancestors, they are at least eight generations removed. If it has fifteen or more dragon ancestors, they are at least nine generations removed. If it has seventeen or more dragon ancestors, they are at least ten generations removed. If it has nineteen or more dragon ancestors, they are at least eleven generations removed. Etc. |

| M-bark02-21-08, 02:35 AM | Otherkin much? You can go to pretty much any monster thread and shout that. Could you please elaborate more on your thoughts other than merely "otherkin much"? |

| M-bark02-27-08, 02:51 PM | Anyone got any other comments? :bump: |
| Isendir02-27-08, 05:36 PM | Good, but I have never seen purple, orange and yellow dragons.. |
| ZiggZagg02-27-08, 05:59 PM | They are the 3 lost chromatic dragons. They are detailed in the Dragon Compendium |
| Legdiwena02-27-08, 06:55 PM | So essentially a half-prismatic dragon? |
| Isendir02-27-08, 07:14 PM | I'm still trying to get Dragon Magazines....I was wondering about the half-prismatic, and I have no clue what Dragon Compendium is.... |
| Legdiwena02-27-08, 07:21 PM | Dragon Compendium was a collection of the best of the best (from their viewpoint) of Dragon magazine Prismatic Dragon is from Draconomicon |
| M-bark02-28-08, 12:27 PM | Prismatic Dragon is from Draconomicon No it's not. Unless I have overlooked it in the 100+ times I've looked through my Draconomicon. I suppose you could call this a way to get a half-prismatic dragon (somewhat), except that if you'd give it all those dragon ancestors and breath weapons and all you would have an insane LA. Granted, your abilties might be great, but your HP would still be low compared to your ECL. That, and a half-prismatic dragon probably would be able to breathe prismatic rays rather than be able to choose between this and that and that and that and that breath weapon. And yes, the orange, purple and yellow dragons are "lost" chromatic dragons. Obsidian dragons are gem dragons that apparantly were banished by Sardior, or something. |
| Legdiwena02-28-08, 12:42 PM | I'm AFB, but I coulda sworn it was in there. |
| M-bark02-28-08, 02:27 PM | I'm AFB, but I coulda sworn it was in there. Perhaps it's in the Epic Level Handbook? According to the SRD, it's an Epic monster, so that might be so. |
| Legdiwena02-28-08, 02:33 PM | Maybe the monster isn't detailed in there, but think it was on the table for creating half-dragons of each type. |
| Isendir02-28-08, 05:51 PM | It isn't in the Draconomicon, and it only had pyroclastic dragons(it is abc order), so I bet it is in Epic level Handbook.... |
