08-26-05, 04:12 PM In the Monster Manual, statistics are only given for a few basic Dinosaur types.
I was wondering if anyone knew where to find rules for other breeds of Dinosaur (Brontosaurus especially).

PS. Is it just my dodgy memory or did Brontosaurus get renamed a few years ago?
If so someone please tell me the new name, as it escapes me at the moment.

08-26-05, 04:22 PM brontosaurus never exhisted per say, it was a mistake in which the apatasaurs (sp) body was paired with one of it's smaller cousin's small stocky head. not sure on stats tho, but I'm interested as well

Apatosaurus. It wasn't so much renamed as synonymized with another animal. This happened over one hundred years ago, but popular books on dinosaurs generally don't do much in the way of research.

08-26-05, 04:25 PM There are types of dinosaurs in almost every monster manual plus Sandstorm and Stormwrack. I can't remember who exactly but one of the posters here on the forums has a thread giving stats to dozens and dozens of saurians. I've done a handful of prehistoric creatures myself, but no true dinosaurs.

08-26-05, 10:37 PM Hatred beyond all belief has boiled up inside me just by the mention of that blasphemous word, "Brontosaurus". But thank god you didn't call it 'Long-neck', had you I would have hacked the Pentagons records to find your residence and kill you. FYI, It was a Camarasaurs head on an Apatosaurs body.

Gallimimus/Chicken Mimic
Pelecanimimus/Pelican Mimic
Ornithomimus/Bird Mimic
among many others that are almost identicle...
BTW what happened to that other dinosaur post?

Given that Pelecanimimus was quite possibly a filter-feeder, I doubt that it could run particularly fast.

The fastest known dinosaur is probably Aeronautes saxatalis, which can attain speeds of up to 300 kph (185 mph). The fastest known classical dinosaur is probably Dromeciomimus.

Fastieths are Leaellynasaura according to the ECS. And it didn't call them compies, but there was a needletooth swarm or something along those lines.

08-29-05, 12:20 AM why? It's a fantasy game, with a fantasy culture. If there were dinosaurs alive in your culture, would you not give them colloquial names? Yes, yes you would. Like how there's a scientific name for "Cow", but we still call it "Cow".
