| Monstar07-16-06, 05:29 PM | Could someone explain to me why dire hawks are considered a stronger animal companion than a dire eagle? Is there errata on this? If so I haven't been able to find it. Dire eagles are large;dire hawks are medium. Dire eagles have over-all better ability scores; dire hawks have a better dex score but that's it. They both have the same HD, speed/maneuverability, special qualities and racial skill bonuses. The dire eagle can be an animal companion at 4th level(-3) and the dire hawk can be one at 7th level(-6). I just don't get it.....I plan on suggesting to my DM that we switch their places on the An.Co. list, unless one of you can point out something I'm missing. PS. I hope this is the right forum to post this question in, it seemed like a borderline class question to me. |
