So... I'm going to be revisiting a group that I used to play with. They've still got the same characters, and so mine has jokingly been assigned the interim profession of Dire Sheperd. Which means that if I'm going to hang with them on Saturday I'm going to need a herd of Dire Sheep.

Help please?

Sheep? why bother, be a Dire CAT sheperd instead! then you'll get mad respect from all commoners everywhere! after all, how many flocks can take a commoner down?

This reminds me of something.

Andrewsarchus, is a sort of sheep in wolves clothing.
They are the largest mammalian predator that ever existed and they are closely related to sheep.

Are you attempting to go the Diablo 2 route with a Secret Sheep plane or something?

I've always sorta wanted to incorporate Enclosure into a campaign... commoner farmers being driven off the land by rich people who want to graze their sheep there. Then you could have the peasants plotting revenge -- but no, the lords have decided to use dire sheep, which produce monstrous amounts of wool, far more than a match for whatever resources the disenfranchised farmers could muster.

A dire sheep does not ordinarily use its hooves to attack. They are treated as secondary attacks, and the dire sheep only adds half of its strength bonus to its attack and damage rolls.

Find stats. for sheep. Use the Dire Animal template from ToH. Applaud me on the advice.

Wow, such arrogance, and such shoddy advice to go with it.

You could probably use the Bison stats for a dire sheep. A sheep is weak and docile in the first place, so there's no reason to use dire stats anyways. Sheep would probably be small-sized, so the size increase to Large will probably due. It's dire, and most dire animals are twisted, so the gore shouldn't be a probably.

There are stats for a goat-like creature, called a brixashulty, in Races of the Wild -- Medium Animal, with a gore attack, and a Knockback (Ex) feature with their gore attack. Seems like a good starting point (although I have no idea what "ToH" is...)

As far as size goes, sheep have just as much variety in size and temperament as any other animal, wild or not. Would you want to be on the receiving end of a head-butt/gore from a bighorn sheep? I think you'd revise the statement of weak and docile...

Actually domesticated sheep, which I assume are the base creature for "Dire" sheep, are so pathetic, my neighbor accidently SCARED one to DEATH. It literally died, because he drove too close to it with a four-wheeler. Stupid animal.

Of course, you won't want your sheep to do this, so maybe Bison stats?

Bighorn sheep are not domesticated, and so are of course, tougher.

Thanks for the great response, everybody. So far it's been pretty helpful, though I can't say for sure which books will be available.
