How much would it cost to rear a Dire Triceratops from an egg/young to a rideable/feasable mount? Also, how would you compute the stats for a Dire Triceratops?

Dire animals are much more primitive and larger versions of a creature. There really were dire wolves and bears in prehistory, and so thats where the idea came from.

However, a triceratops would already BE a dire animal in its own right.

Ah, thanks. How much would it cost to train one?

I think the Arms and Equipment Guide has rules for training special mounts, including costs, but I dont have access to the book at this moment.
As to making a Triceretops a dire creature, you could take the time to make a template outline for "dire" animals. Key points I've noticed about dire creatures is that they tend to be bigger, stronger, and harder to kill. That basicaly translates to, amp up STR and CON, give DEX a slight boost, give 'em a larger hit die and/or more hit die ( DM's call on that one ), and up their size a catagory. If your really into the idea of having a Dire Triceretops, what can I say but "Go for it!".
