I made a template so a dire werebadger [ECL 5 or 6] based off of the MM rules for lycanthropes and the savage progression articles on the WotC site. I must say it looks pretty good. The only problem is the Rage ability. If I copy it from the MM, it will be very detrimental to any character except a fighter/barbarian. So I tweaked it a bit and would like to know what people think.

Original: A dire badger that takes damage in combat flies into a berserk rage on its next turn, clawing and biting madly until either it or its opponent is dead. It gains +4 Strength, +4 Constitution, and –2 AC. The creature cannot end its rage voluntarily.

Revised: After taking damage, the character must make a Will save (DC 10+damage dealt) to avoid going into rage. Same bonuses apply as original. While raging, the character cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills, the Concentration skill, or any abilities that require patience or concentration, nor can he cast spells or activate magic items that require a command word, a spell trigger (such as a wand), or spell completion (such as a scroll) to function [as barbarian rage]. Character must use a move action to attempt a Will save (DC 15 + number of rounds raging) to end the rage prematurely. For example, if the character rages for 3 rounds, he must succeed at a Will save DC 18 to come out of the rage before his opponent is dead. The rage will end when either the character makes the Will save, drops below 0 hit points, or the opponent that triggered the rage is dead.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

P.S.
I can post the whole progression if you'd like, its just long so I didn't want to waste too much time.

That seems like a good solution to your rage problem.

However, personally I don't see the original rage as a problem. If a specific werebeast combination gives problems for specific PCs, too bad. It is supposed to be the "curse" of lycanthropy, after all!
