06-15-07, 12:56 AM is there a template or even a rule of thumb for creating a dire animal?

i'm looking for a Dire Hyena.

06-15-07, 02:35 AM Demigods and Deities says use Dire Wolf. Or, someone made one with a bit of edits to dire wolf on here not too long ago

06-15-07, 03:00 AM Nope. There is no (official) template for dire creatures. Each one is its own unique creature. I'd say just go for the closest approximate. Dire Wolf in this case, as captianhowdy already mentioned.

06-15-07, 11:33 AM While their are no official templates or rules of thumd for making a dire creature their are many unofficial templates. What i recomend for a dire hyena is take either a dire wolf or a dire jackal (sandstorm) and change it as you see fit.

P.S. am i the only one who wonders why the dire bear template doesn't specifie what type of bear it is? But theirs then a dire polar bear in frostburn....

So i went home last night and created my own version, using the diferences between hyena and wolf, and applying that to dire wolf. i came up with EXACTLY the same thing as that guy. but i ended up swapping Run out for Armor Prof (light) for the ranger he belongs to.
