| ChefOrc07-11-05, 06:22 PM | Can a magic missile spell target a displacer beast? On the one hand, the description of the displacer beast states that the beast can be targeted by spell, but , on the other hand, melee and ranged attacks against it suffer a 50% miss chance because the true location of the beast is difficult to establish. This is the exact same effect as total concealment which would preclude using magic missile. What do you think? |
| Yoho1.507-11-05, 06:36 PM | A magic missile strikes unerringly any target with less than total concealment, if you can see it you can hit it. The Displacement spell which mimics the displacer beasts ability gives 50% miss chance as if it had total concealment, but unlike total concealment is doesn't prevent targeting the creature (PBH p223). So I'd allow a magic missle to hit the Displacer Beast. |
