Do Bigger Creatures Have an Increased Speed? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-02-03, 07:25 PM The size increase tables in the MM and MM2 cover change in Strength, Con, etc., but are there any rules for the change in Speed you would expect from a larger creature?

For example, say that a Large Dire Bear was advanced to Huge, and then became the target of an Animal Growth, thus making it Gargantuan. Would it's Speed still be 40 feet?

07-02-03, 11:50 PM My adhoc ruling would be that you get an extra 5' to your base move for every size increase. But I imagine that there is some kind of official ruling on this somewhere...

07-03-03, 02:40 AM Accourding to MM, speeds stay the same.
I'm looking at page 208, with the various entries for Monstrous Centipedes. It's got a speed of 40 at Large all the way up through Colossal. Monstrous Scorpions all move at 50 ft, regardless of size too.
