| Akimor10-28-07, 09:05 AM | Hello, in Lords of Madness it is said, that Mindflayers need at least one brain per month to survive and one per week to be well fed. The book of exhalted deeds indicates that there exist mindflayers of good alingment. I for myself think that eating brains of intelligent beings cannot be considered a good action accept from a mindflayers point of view. So has anybody an idea on how those mindflayers of good aligentment get there breakfast? Greetz Akimor |

Supposedly they could subsist on animal brains, but it would be extremely foul tasting to it and and not provide much sustenance. So basically they'd have to lead a life of horrible, wan food and likely have to eat a lot more often. |

Otherwise, the BOED is even more absurd than its counterpart. Assuming there are only a couple of good mind flayers, I could see it working. Some could work as executioners in large cities where there are many capital criminals. Others might be bounty hunters or some such, hunting down criminals and dangerous monsters for both profit and food. Again, this only works if they are very few. |
| Akimor10-28-07, 06:03 PM | Well, BOED gives the example of one mindflayer, not a whole community. The Eberron Campaign Setting overwrites the alignment of all intelligent creatures. It states that any intelligent creature can be of any alignment. So if the Monster Manual states that mindflayers are evil, for eberron that means, that most mindflayers are evil, but it is likley, that you might encounter a lawful good mindflayer as well. Thatīs why I was asking. Greetz Akimor |

GM: The first mind flayer raises a hand "Peace, brothers," it says. "We meen you no harm. Greetings in the name of Pelor." |
