Do they or does the creature just think about it and it happens? If so how would you describe a monster using an SLA?

they require nothing.

It woudl depend on the SLA

One thing I wonder is what about spells that refer to using your hand e.g disintegrate? Where does the ray shoot out of if its an SLA?

SLAs dont require anything to use, even XP or costly material components(yes thats right. Wish as an SLA is free!).

as far as the ray, maybe he still uses a small gesture, but the point is, its not required.
