Roy The Demon, Roy wasn't his real name of coarse that just what we called demons at the time. Say if a demon apperd say out of a summoning circle inscribed in blood we'ed say "Here comes Roy right outa Grant's Ear." Because it was the Style at the Time.

Wow, just when you didn't think 8BT could get any lamer...

That joke is stolen straight out of the Simpsons. The nuclear reactor workers go on strike for a dental plan, and Mr. Burns hires a bunch of strikebreakers from the Great Depression, led by Grandpa Simpson. The speech is stolen from his "aimless story" method of strikebreaking, including the odd names for things and the "style at the time" line.
Primus, the One and Prime

12-04-03, 12:58 PM
Of course it is. Brian Clevinger is an avid Simpsons fan and he admits to not being original all the time.

Besides, the Simpsons did not invent the rambling crazy old man or the phrase "it was th estyle at the time". Don't be such adowner Man in Black.

That's a rather absurd request. There is NOTHING to base these stats off of.

Here, tell you what, open the MM to any random page, slap your hand down, and use those stats. They will work as well as any other.

Yes, it is a joke from an early episode of 8-bit theater, a web-based comic strip based on the original Final Fantasy game. It is commentary coming from a rambling old man in a retirement home just before Black Mage comes in and kills everyone in the place. It really isn't funny, but closely mimics a joke in an early episode of The Simpsons that also wasn't very funny, but is instantly recognizable to Simpsons fans.

In other words, this whole thread is a giant inside joke.

Well it would be nice if someone would take up the challenge and post the stats for their version of this "Roy", even if it started out as an in-joke and there is no information given in the source.

I've seen people post stats for a "bandersnatch" on this forum before, even though Jabberwocky started out as an in-joke about literary analysis and the source their doesn't even suggest a creature type.

Surely someone on this board is creative enough to have an idea or two...?

I shall take this challenge!!!

It'll take me a sec, though, so expect it sometime later. But nonetheless it will capture Roy's excrucating background. Truly he shall be a monster amongst kings amongst slightly less powerful kings.

Level Adjustment: +9
A hezrou can walk both upright and on all fours, but it always fights standing up
A hezrou is about 8 feet tall and weighs about 750 pounds.
Combat
Hezrous enjoy melee combat even more than vrocks do. They eagerly press an attack deep into the heart of enemy forces, so their stench can take effect as quickly as possible. They enter most battles by using blasphemy, and follow it with an occasional chaos hammer or unholy blight, depending on the alignment of their opponents.
A hezrous natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as chaotic-aligned and evil-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a hezrou must hit with both claw attacks. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Spell-Like Abilities: At willchaos hammer (DC 18), greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds of objects only), unholy blight (DC 18); 3/dayblasphemy (DC 21), gaseous form. Caster level 13th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
Stench (Ex): A hezrous skin produces a foul-smelling, toxic liquid whenever it fights. Any living creature (except other demons) within 10 feet must succeed on a DC 24 Fortitude save or be nauseated for as long as it remains within the affected area and for 1d4 rounds afterward. Creatures that successfully save are sickened for as long as they remain in the area. A creature that successfully saves cannot be affected again by the same hezrous stench for 24 hours. A delay poison or neutralize poison spell removes either condition from one creature. Creatures that have immunity to poison are unaffected, and creatures resistant to poison receive their normal bonus on their saving throws.. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Summon Demon (Sp): Once per day a hezrou can attempt to summon 4d10 dretches or another hezrou with a 35% chance of success. This ability is the equivalent of a 4th-level spell.
Skills: Hezrous have a +8 racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks.

A Man In Black, seriously whats your problem? If you don't like the thread heres a concept- don't read it. If other people want to continue it they can, you'll notice under your name it doesn't say Moderator. That means its not your job to decide what we should discuss on the lists so please don't. Especially not in such a mean spirited way.

That being said heres my attempt to stat Roy. Its based on Baphamut who is to date the only demon that we have seen in 8-bit theatre. He appears in this comic http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=020624 and self destructs shortly after. I switch between Roy singular and plural through out the desription, so sorry about that, but I don't know which one is apropriate so I use both

Roy
Large outsider (Extraplanar, Evil)
15d8+75 (142 hp)
Initiative +4 (dex)
speed: 40 feet
armor class: 25 (-1 size, +4 dex, +12 natural) touch 13, flatfooted 21
Base Attack/Grapple: +15/+24
Attack: Scythe +20 , or laser eye beams +19
Damage: Scythe 2d6+5, laser eye beams 2d6+3
Space/reach: 10ft/10ft
Special Attacks: Self Destruct, Stabby Scythe
Special Qualities: high resolution, darkvision 60 ft, planeshift
Saves: ???
Abilities: Str 20 Dex 19 Con 18 Int 16 Wis 3 Cha 16
Skills: ???
Feats: Weapon focus [scythe], Weapon focus [laser eye beams], Weapon focus [Quill] (because we all know the quill is mightier than the sword er scythe, er laser eye beams), Polyglot
______________________________________
Climate/Terrain: Higher dimension, on mission: Any
Organization: Solitary
CR: ???
Treasure: None
Alignment: Evil (any)

Roy is another name for a Demon, they are gallomphed (summoned) by mortals from a sawdust squares known as Grant's ear. Because it was the style at that time. They are also capable of coming to our wold normally, when on missions from their lords. They are bipedal and hooved. Their bodies are covered with brown shaggy hair and they have long arms and slightly oversized hands. Their head is that of a goats, and they have yellow eyes with a faint trace of a red pupil that can only be seen by looking ver closely. A shaggy white mane covers their neck and shoulders. They appear odd to normal eyes because they exist in a higher resolution of reality than normal mortals.
Roys are generally found serving a greater demonic entity. They are unbelievably gullable.

Combat:
Roys are capable combatants who fight to the death when on a mission.
Laser Eye Beams (Su): Roys can fire laser eye beams out their eyes (duh). These have a range of 120 feet
High Resolution: Roys come from a realm with a higher resolution (more ppi) than mortals. Non high resolution creatures suffer a -1 penalty when trying to strike a Roy because problems with depth perception. True Seeing spells amplify this to a -4. This is a natural trait of Roys due to their origins and is non suppresable
Stabby Scythe: Roys only do stab damage with their scythes, not slashing.
planeshift (Sp): Roys can planeshift as 20th level sorcerer twice per day
Outsider: Roys are are extraplanar outsiders (see the core rulebook III)
Self Destruct (Su): The most feared ability of a Roy is Self Destruct. By transforming their essence into raw obliteration they can wipe out a huge amount of area in the blink of an eye. This attack destroys everything in a 10 mile radius centered on the Roy, passing a reflex save DC 50 means you are only half destroyed (from the waist down or the closest approximation to a waist by the DMs discretion). This massive release of raw obliteration creates a mushroom cloud and will rain down debree, blood, and body parts in the area of the destruction plus 1d20 miles. Prevailing winds can shift this fallout cloud as the DM wishes
Skills: Roys have a -10 racial penality to sense motive.

Here my creation notes and reasoning for giving him stuff that I did.
-The low wisdom and racial penalty are to represent the fact that Baphamut blindly believed black mage even when faced with reasons to be be suspicious. (In fact he believed him so much that he sacrificed himself based purely on black mages word)
-High Charisma is because he spoke in a big special letters with a special speach bubble. Yeah thats really the only reason. High intelligence had no basis and thus does not get its own -
-High strength and constitution was because he was big and goaty. BIG AND GOATY!!!
-High Dex was to reflect a natural ranged attack
-Laser Eye beams, one of the towns folk screams, "he's using laser eye beams on us", so I gave him some.
-High Resolution, Baphamut is a higher resolution in the comic so yeah, this one is pretty clear. I tried to imagine what this would mean in our world and originally thought maybe he'd be a 4 dimensional creature but I didn't want to try and deal with him reaching into peoples bodies and pulling their organs out, or how one of how his "hyperlength" (width, length, depth, hyperlength) would get crammed out of existence. So I decided to go with high resolution whatever that means.
-Stabby Scythe, a towns person screams ARRRRGH, HE'S STABBING ME! Since you actually make sweeping cuts with a scythe I figured this must be a peculularity of their fighting style and put it in
-Self Destruct, he self destructs by turning his essence into raw obliteration, so likewise I gave Roy the ability.
-Planeshift, Roy needs a way to get to our world (I think, though maybe you can just walk) so I gave him plane shift.
-The weapon focus feats are there cause I couldn't think of anything better to give Roys
-Polyglot, this is an Epic feat that lets you speak any language. Roys unlike Tanar'ri, Baatezu, Yugoloths, and most other fiends are not telepathic. This evidenced by the fact that when he walks up to the light warriors he begins speaking out loud in the wrong language and then changes to um I guess common. Since Roys travel all over serving their evil masters they have to talk to a lot of people. I gave them polyglot to compensate for their non telepathy.
