Doing Damage and a cheat [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-08-04, 11:27 PM Hi, two things for this post.

The first is, without magic items can a dragon damage a creature with high damage reduction? Dragons seem to do a lot of attacks, but not much damage with each attack. When you reach higher levels and have creatures with DR it seems that dragons will be in trouble. Especially since I think my DM will make it harder for my dragon to get eq than normal chars (I created my own progression table for gold dragon, it's weaker than a normal char without eq, stronger than a normal, but not by much, when it has magic items). After all, dragons don't get DR until young adult, which is almost certainly epic levels. That's a long time to wait to get a +1 equivalent with natural attacks.

The second is, what's to stop a silver or gold dragon from polymorphing into a dragon of the same type that is one size larger than they are? Eg, a wyrmling gold dragon polymorphing into a juvenile gold dragon? And then a very young gold dragon polymorphing into a mature adult?

not so sure on number two, btu at most you'd only get liomited abilities anyway.

Because they would loose their EX abilities like DR.

But against any other creature, a dragon could theoretically never hurt them?

And you don't get DR until epic levels as a PC.

03-10-04, 01:20 AM it's be a rare creature that has a dr of silver or iron or something that was higehr than 10 or 15. Strenght bonus alone pretty much covers that, and I can't imagine a dragon not taking Power attack (for cleave if nothing else).

Dragons hti often, so you cna afford the penalty to hit for extra damage. Just trust in yrou bite attack.
