Silent portal disk (350gp, MoF p165):
Any door you put the disk on makes no sound, no creaking when you open it, no cracking if you smash the lock. Your DM will hate your rogue. If you cast "animate object" on the door, you will have the first door ninja ever. You could also wack people with the door and the hit wouldn't make a noise.

After seeing this quote floating around in someone's signature, I decided to stat this out:

Door Ninja CR 4
Door Ninja 3
N Medium Construct
Init: +6 Senses: Darkvision 60 ft, Low-light Vision; Utterly Silent, Hide +10, Bluff +4 (Usualy used to pretend to be an ordinary door, Circumstance bonuses probably apply), Spot +10, Listen +10, Search +1, Trapfinding
Languages: Common
----------------------------
Armor Class: 19, Touch 14, Flat-Footed 17 (+2 Dex, +2 Wisdom, +1 Armor +4 Natural)
Hit Points: 41 (5 HD)
Immune: Construct Immunities
Fort +1 Ref +5 Will +4 (+6 with ki pool)
----------------------------
Speed: 30 ft.
Melee slam +4 (1d6+3 plus Poison)
Base Attack: +3 Grapple: +5
Attack Options: Sudden Strike +2d6, Poison (Medium Spider Venom, DC 14, 1d4 Strength/1d4 Strength)
Combat Gear: 2 Oils of Repair Moderate Damage, 1 spare dose of Medium Spider Venom
----------------------------
Abilities: Str 14 Dex 15 Con -- Int 13 Wis 14 Cha 10
Special Qualities: Hardness 5, Trapfinding, Ki Power, Ghost Step, Poison Use
Feats: Improved Inititive, Weapon Focus (Slam)
Skills: Spot +10, Listen +10, Hide +10, Bluff +4&1/2
Possessions: Combat Gear plus Silent Portal Disk, Bracers of Armor+1, Hand of the Mage, Good Lock, and 20 gp worth of decorations.
----------------------------
Hook: The door swings open, eerily silent.

Most gear listed is hidden inside of a secret compartment built into the door (Search DC 20 to locate). The Hand of the Mage is the door's method of manipulating objects, such as its Repair Damage oils.

So, with a little fudging on Awaken Construct and assuming the Elite array, any cleric with the ability to cast 9th level spells can have one of these for the price of 3100gp to equip the Door Ninja, 8000 Xp, and one humanoid brain, plus the cost of the door itself and the cost of training a 3rd level ninja.

So, what do you think?

Hate to rain on your parade, but doesn't the silent portal disk have only three charges a day?

Other than that, I find this idea disturbing. . .but not as disturbing as your players will.

How does a door move around, anyway? Does it tip over and use it's momentum to sort of roll? And how would it jump or run up walls? Joke. In all seriousness, how does it move?

The basic theory is that awaken object gives the object a semblance of mobility. A candelabra, for example, can move its different arms around like...arms and can adjust the general shape of its base to walk about.

I don't own the stats of the Silent Portal Disk myself. I was just working from the information in the quote. Still, at 3 uses a day, it makes a great ninja. No need for Move Silently checks 3 times a day?? What stealth character wouldn't want such a thing?

The Cr Seems a little high. I think this is probably a cr 3-4, not a 5. Other then that, it seems just fine to me.

Its a CR 2 monster with 3 levels in a PC class. That usualy equates to a CR 5.

That's only for associated classes, i.e., ones whose abilities complement the base creature well. Otherwise, it's +1 CR per two class levels. This, the door ninja is about CR 3 1/2.

Also, shouldn't it have a racial bonus on Hide (or maybe Disguise) checks in doorways?

Well then, since a medium animated object has only 2 racial hit die, then its a CR 4 with 3 ninja levels.

As for a racial hide bonus, I merely statted out the monster using the stats for a medium animated object, the Awaken Construct spell from Savage Species, and the Ninja Class from Complete Adventurer. However, a Door Ninja probably would recieve circumstance modifiers to its Bluff check to act like a non-animated door.

I already did. I just don't get much activity on this thread, so I don't visit much.
