Hey,

Just a quick one here. The Change Shape ability doppelgangers have says they can change their into any medium sized humanoid they wish. Do medium sized monsterous humanoids count? I assume they don't get any special abilities the new form would have they just look like them.

I want a recurring villain to be able to change himself to look like a Yuan-Ti pureblood, or even a half blood without the special abilities the two monsters have. I know as a DM I can just make that call but one of my players might in the future want to play a doppelganger and I don't want that issue to come up. Should I increase the CR for the monster that can do that?

Am I missing maybe another natural shape changer? I don't want the change shape ability to be dispelled at all.

Anyway, thanks,

Nope...humanoid only, and I'm pretty sure they don't get any of the cool abilities beyond 'movement' (i.e. wings, swim speeds, etc), 'sensory' (low-light vision, darkvision), and things like water breathing (if the form actually breathes water).
