Double DR - Su or Ex? [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-29-06, 04:43 PM If I have DR that, according to MM errata, is both Su and Ex, which is it? A lich has DR 15/bludgeoning and magic, right? According to the MM errata, DR/bludgeoning is Ex, and DR/magic is Su. So, does an antimagic field negate the DR, or not, or only the DR/magic portion of it?

10-29-06, 06:42 PM The SRD says that a lich's DR is Su. Other than that, I don't know of an official ruling either way.

10-29-06, 11:02 PM According to Sage Advice, creatures with DR (SU) and (EX) or (SU) or (EX) that enter an Antimagic Field revert to being DR (EX) only. So a lich with DR Bludgeoning and Magic would have DR Bludgeoning, an a Tanar'ri with DR Good or Cold Iron would have DR Cold Iron.

"DR X/silver or cold iron should be (Su)"

a lich with DR Bludgeoning and Magic would have DR BludgeoningEven with this, the MM errata says ""Use the following guidelines if it is not specified". Since a lich's DR is specified as (Su) it could be interpreted as not functioning at all in an AMF.

I personally go with the FAQ, but I'm just mentioning the discrepancy for completeness.
