Looking at the Dracolich template I realized something, with the loss of a con score a dragon can go down by 200 or more hit points when becoming a dracolich and I cant see anything to make up for something that will drop their power that immensley, am I missing something? Do you have a suggestion to add to the template for upping their hit points? Any ideas or input?

Well, the undead immunities are pretty solid, the +3 to SR is potent, and the addition of the paralyzing gaze and touch is pretty good. The DR 5/bludgeoning can play a role, since few high level characters use bludgeoning damage. Personally, I think that comes close to making up for the hp loss.

Adding 1d6 cold on all attacks is not terrible, though might not be all that useful. However, things like the breath weapon saves and the tail sweep suffer from the lack of a high Con score. Most dragons' Charisma are high, but not nearly as high as their Constitution, so that hurts them.

I just don't think this template is worth the +3 CR.

The main reason that dragons become dracoliches is to become immortal so that is worth any decrease in hit points and such. They have an eternity to find a way to gain those hit points back.

I agree with dropping the +3 CR, or at least lessening it, even with an infinity to live, why would a dragon, who has a life span f thousands of years, not simply invest in a magic item that would unfailingly bring you back if you die, for enough money artifact level magic item creation is fully possible, and find for me an old and powerful dragon who isnt rich.

The +3sr is there to offset the +3cr.:)

It's a tradeoff - while the dracolich loses a chunk of hp, it gains a ton of new immunities and new special attacks, though those paralysing attacks can be readily countered with freedom of movement.:(

Supposedly, they will offset each other - the dracolich then becomes less of a tank and more of a "tricky" opponent.:P

If the dragon has epic spellcasting it could use the fortify seed to grant itself a con score. Cheating ftw.

*Fear me ,mortals, for I have an undead metabolism. Bwahahahaha!*
