| RiverMage02-19-04, 11:28 PM | Now, I'm new to this Board, but I've been playing D&D for the past 6 Years, and if ther's one think I love about the game is Dragons, and when the Draconomicon came out I was all hyped up, and when I got the book two weeks ago, I was estatic to find a Draconic vocabulary. Loving Dragons like I do, no need to say that I wanted to learn this language, but I quickly realised that it would be hard to have a descent conversation in draconic since a lot of words are missing... I know that puting a full Draconic Vocabulary in the Draconomicon would of been impossible, but I was woundering if WOTC were thinking of actualy making a Draconic Dictianry... if so, I know I'd jump on that book... Anyhow it was just a thought, and if anyone out there could help me on this matter or hint me in a direction I'd be happy... |

| Mirtek02-20-04, 07:14 PM | There was a list of some draconic words and their english translation in one of the older issues of dragon magazine. Not much, but enough to at least build some short "classic" sentences |
| Dr. Attila02-21-04, 04:36 PM | Hmm, that would be a little creepy, imo. That's like taking "Learn to speak Klingon" classes *shudders* |

| Mordenkainen's Rubber Duck of DOOM02-23-04, 08:02 PM | I find it unlikely that Draconic would use english grammar and parts of speech. heck, they don't even need to use parts of speech, as Loglan can get by with 3 and AllNoun can use 1. But anyway, I'd think that Draconic should use a VOS order. After all, I think Dragons would be more concerned with what's happening, then to what, and then who did it. A simple English-Draconic transcription should not just be "Replace all the words" like the Draconomicon does. |
