Draconomicon Dragonrider vs Dragonlance Dragonrider [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-01-03, 04:10 PM Does anyone have any theories on the Dragonrider in the Draconomicon vs the one int he Dragonlance Campaign Setting? I have looked at both of them and they both have a great deal of merit. Intrestingly I also noticed that you can take both quite easily...one has 5 levels bith a BAB requirement of 5, and the other has 10 with a BAB requirement of ten, and they both have a progressive base attack. If that was really your character's thing (as it should be) you could say one was basic traineing and the other like "officer" or elite training...any thoughts on this?

12-12-03, 02:28 PM That was my thought exactly...one has a BAB req of 5 and is a five level class...theother is ten levels with a BAB req of ten. I was thinking basic and elite training. Pretty effective I think. Start out with a like 2 levels of fighter and 3 of ranger...coolness.

12-12-03, 08:50 PM Just to be completely precise, the Dragonlance one is the "Dragon rider," whereas the Draconomicon one is the "Dragonrider."

The Dragonrider's first level ability makes the Dragon rider's feat requirements a bit pointless, but they still have some synergy.

If you really want a great Dragon rider, use the Windrider PrC [MotW] to quualify ;).

Very true. Actually, I was reccomending using only the Dragon rider PrC and Windwalker. All of those bonus HD are amazing as dragon HD. You could probably make a Dragon ascendant Pre-epic with the right setup.
