denomicon 12-19-03, 11:55 PM	Who exactly let this book go to press? It is chalk full of typos and missing at least one table. However the content is itself excellent, I am enjoying the book greatly. If I was one of the editors I would be very ashamed of the effort that was put into the proofing. Anyone else fell the same way? It worries me that this lack of care could spread to the content of future books and if that happens what a sad day that would be.

Incenjucar 12-20-03, 02:24 AM	Editing, in -every- field, is going down hill, along with the more respected forms of the English language. Heck, you can find errors in books that MILLIONS of people have read for years (I found one in the Green Mile, which has been through an edition or two, and was a huge seller). Between the influences of halting road signs, the media's love of slang, and the general hatred of learning found in the world today, it's going to get worse every year until something major happens. Best to get used to it.
jagggar 12-21-03, 09:07 PM	What table's missing? I found it quite ammusing when I read that the brass dragon had a "long forked tounge" when the illistration(I know it's not spelled right.) and notes said quite the opposite.

One or two I can let slide, as it is a large book and people are not perfect; but when it starts to interfere with my reading of the book, it's time to find a new editor.

Yeah. All the illustrations for the Metallics made a BIG deal out of their tongues NOT being forked. The text said differently. That amused me.
RavinRay 12-29-03, 09:51 AM	With joy, I bought my copy this afternoon at a comic book and rpg store at the megamall, and while I am just skimming the contents and ignoring any typos, I am beside myself for buying it out of impulse. Yep, you got that right. I like the biology section in Chapter 1, it satisfies the scientist in me. Well, with the Oceanus & Styx dragons, and water drakes to work with, I am developing stats and general overviews for true aquatic dragons. Hopefully, in January I'll post the full stats for my aqua, aquamarine, and quicksilver dragons, under development right now. I wonder if there will be a volume 2 of Draconomicon ala Monster Manual II to cover Sardior and the five gem dragons, as well as the obsidian dragons and more gem dragons that WotC is hinting at (I hope the three I posted in the Psionics forum will make it). Oh well, maybe it will be an accessory and not a full-fledged book. As an aside, I got Mongoose Publishing's Dragon Magic: Power Incarnate of its Encyclopaedia Arcane series. It was on sale for the equivalent in local currencty for < US $10, so I might as well got it.

Sepheroth101 01-03-04, 11:59 PM	Bah i see typos everyday in Everquest a few in a book won't kill me. Also i'd like to note for the heck of it that even Tolkein made a typo in return of the king (he misspelled Pelennor as Pelenor ( i don't even think i got it right))
