Sinvi 09-05-04, 01:25 PM	If i have a dragon cohort, lets say a young adult blue dragon, how do i advance him? sorry if this is basic, but does he stay the same until his age moves up, or can i give him class levels. If i can give class levels, and i were to give him sorcerer levels, would it stack onto the caster level he already has, or would it start a new sorcerer spell table? any help is appreciated.

There are three ways to advance this dragon: -Aging advancement (long) -Hit Dice advancement. A YA-Blue can go up to 19 or 20hd, which would give it the following: +1d10+4 (or +2d10+8) +1 or +2 BAB +0 or +1 all saves +0 or +1 CR. -Class Levels. Any Class Levels you give to this dragon will: Give HD of the class's sort, which stack with this dragon's normal 18hd; Sorceror levels will stack with dragon "levels" (this dragon is a natural Sor 3) *for purpose of caster level.* See below. Any class levels you would add in a 1/1 BAB class, or Sorceror, would add +1 CR per level; any other class levels are +1 CR per 2 levels. Example: Raijin, the Young Adult Blue Dragon, has 5 levels of Sorceror. HD: 18d10+5d4+92 (23hd) Caster level: 8 (as Sorceror) Spells known: This dragon knows spells as though he were multiclassed Sor 5 / Sor 3, keeping two separate Sorceror progressions. CR: 16 (11 base, +5 for the five Sorceror levels.)

Two progressions: Sor 3 (its innate sorcery, as a dragon) Sor 5 (from its class levels) But the dragon's caster level is 8 (they combine because both are Sorceror levels.)
Derren S. 09-06-04, 12:30 AM	Wrong. Sorcerer levels stack with innate casting. So one progression as Sorc 8.

Nifft 09-06-04, 09:30 AM	Things to Remember: 1) Cohorts always use ECL (HD + LA), not CR. This means that whatever class levels you add to a Dragon Cohort, his ECL goes up by one. (The choice may be sub-optimal, but it's still expensive.) 2) Dragons, of course, use d12 HD. :) -- N
