andrew dunn 11-09-05, 11:30 PM	first off why doesnt dragons dexterity ever increase second how do hey ever lose thier "bonus" to dexterity if they have blindsense would they still lose this bonus to an invisible attacker because even thought the dragon realizes an attacker is there with thier blindsense they wouldnt' be able to actually locate it to properly defend itself
allenchan 11-09-05, 11:36 PM	I would assume because increased size catagories give a penalty to dex, as does age, which counterattacks whatever dex bonus they would get for becoming more advanced. Blindsense Other creatures have blindsense, a lesser ability that lets the creature notice things it cannot see, but without the precision of blindsight. The creature with blindsense usually does not need to make Spot or Listen checks to notice and locate creatures within range of its blindsense ability, provided that it has line of effect to that creature. Any opponent the creature cannot see has total concealment (50% miss chance) against the creature with blindsense, and the blindsensing creature still has the normal miss chance when attacking foes that have concealment. Visibility still affects the movement of a creature with blindsense. A creature with blindsense is still denied its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class against attacks from creatures it cannot see. And I dont see how that is confusing.

sandskimmer 11-10-05, 09:21 PM	To offset this limitation, I give some of my really evil dragons "winglets" of Dex (or something similiar) and the combat reflexes feat. It makes them far more deadly when they can take an AOO against each meleeist entering its threat range. Yes, I am evil. :devil:

obrysii 11-11-05, 09:39 AM	You mean slightly higher 10 vs 24 (18 roll + 6 enhancement) is quite a big difference. That's an additional 7 AC there.

RavinRay 11-11-05, 04:18 PM	Sapphire dragon dexterity does increase with age This was because back in the days of 3.0 psionics, Psychoportation was keyed to Dex, and since sapphires specialize in that discipline, their Dex score had to increase with age. With Multiple Ability Dependency (MAD) now a thing of the past, all disciplines are keyed to a mental ability depending on class (Int for psion, Wis for psychic warrior, Cha for wilder). I see no feasible reason now for sapphires to have scaling Dex when all other gem dragons have fixed Dex scores (and in fact independently updated them that way).
