08-30-03, 09:22 PM I have a blue dragon egg how long does it take to hatch and uh what do i need to feed it i cant find any info in the monster manual and i have been over it a thousand times!!!!!

08-30-03, 10:36 PM That really up to your DM. Noone even takes into account the possibilty of a PC getting a dragon egg.
IMC, though, eggs incubate in 1 year an a half and it takes 235 years for the creature to reach maturity.

08-30-03, 11:11 PM I'd probably say about a year a so if one of my PCs found an egg. Course he'd have to live that long, and with momma and daddy hunting them down that would get really tricky. :D

BTW, try the old 2E Draconomicon, they might have incubation info in there.

Blue dragons like their meat electrically cooked, medium well. I suggest developing a special cantrip for preparing food just the way your hatchling likes it. As to the actual nature of the meat, I suggest using camel meat. To provide the full array of nutrients for a developing infant mix in some of the sweet goo found inside cacti.

08-30-03, 11:21 PM thanks cuz the campaign im doing im dm but i have a dragons lair and the baby dragon i put in there didnt have a mom so i needed to find out what it needs to eat so it still likes me

08-31-03, 09:29 AM I'm sure I've read somewhere that dragons can survive on minerals straight from rocks and the like. I don't know about a young dragon though, it might have to eat proper food before it is strong enough and developed enough for this. If it can enventually, it could eat sand.

08-31-03, 12:31 PM Dragons can eat minerals, but chromatics prefer meat [Blues like it cooked to a sizzle by the lightning breath]. Try getting a sheep or a cow every now and then to give it something tasty.

You'll haev to be pretty long lived... Dragons have a lifspan at 1200+, assuming they don't die. Why, just to advance from Wyrmling [the first stage], to Very Young [the second stage], takes 25 years!
