The price will vary wildly based on whether the owning of a such an egg is considered illegal, the rarity of the dragon type, where in the world you are, and who you are selling it to. If you can provide that info, I would be more than happy to venture an educated guess for you
DeathlessJuan 02-15-08, 07:39 PM	I would price it starting at 10,000 gp for a white dragon egg and up to 75,000 gp for a gold dragon egg. This is in a normal magic world were powerful dragons arent exactly common place, but you could find one if you looked hard enough.

In fact, they're so "black market" that just having one in your possession is likely to draw the eternal hatred of every dragon ever, which will continue even after you're dead (extraplanar dragons will find some way to make you miserable).

Orchomenos 02-18-08, 11:24 AM	But what if you've recovered the egg from the man who stole it in the first place... and plan to return it? :P Then just pray the egg won't hatch in your hands! :P Off the top of my head, the parents, even gold dragons, will be so angry they could actually attack & kill the one genuinly bringing back the eggs. Metallic Dragons might be willing to help you safely bring back the eggs to other Metallic Dragon parents, and eventually offer some reward. I don't think a Chromatic Dragon of any species would help to return eggs to their parents. If these are Metallic Dragons eggs, they might just swallow them. But if these are other chromatic dragons eggs, they might return the eggs themselves and claim the ransom; in this later case, a LE Blue or Green might ankwoledge the PC's help, while CE Red, White or Black would be just as likely to eat the PCs.
Derren S. 02-19-08, 08:55 AM	Considering that the practical use of a dragon egg is about 0 the price is hard to determine. Those who really want a dragon egg will pay quite a lot of money, but such persons would be very rare as the egg needs special care or it dies within hours and when the egg finally hatched you have a intelligent dragon which is more like a slave than a child you can raise. And even if you manage that, the time required for the dragon to grow into a useful size is quite long, longer than what most humans are willing to wait.
