Well the searches are screwy so here's my question.

Why are dragons associated to specific elements that don't really exhibit much play in their abilities? A green dragon, for example, is of [Air] subtype. Red dragons are obvious, but what about the blue [Earth] dragons?

Well, it's like this. Some of the time the element is associated with their breath weapon (fire for red etc) and sometimes the element is associated with the creature's habitat.

I can, however, answer your SPECIFIC questions.

Green = air because the breath weapon is poison gas cloud.
Blue = earth because it lives on/under ground, in deserts.

Personally, I think it's all kinda funny, since greens live in forests (fairly Earthy if you ask me), and blues shoot lightning (which is the damage of the Air element). Maybe you should just switch them when no one's looking, and sit back with an innocent expression on your face. Just remember to keep the smirk off your face, that's always a dead give-away.
